Seems like a good deal!

myadidas1981 06-23-2013 09:38 PM

5% Discover cashback at Walmart and free shipping to door make this too good to pass up. Needed something like this to keep in the garage for those 1-2 times a year when it's needed. But if the reviews hold true, seems like it would be a decent investment.

ninedayfall75 06-23-2013 09:59 PM

Yeah, $135 if bought separately, so it seems to be a very good deal.

PokerKnight 06-23-2013 10:32 PM

How does this compare to the Coleman 6-Person Instant Dome Tent that Dick's Sporting Goods had for $49 last year, did not get a air bed with it. Bought it to use for Black Friday last year, but did not get a chance to use it yet.

CaticaL 06-23-2013 11:16 PM

darn I just bought a tent and an air mattress 2-3 weeks ago. I paid around $110 though my tent was 14x9. I like this tent better though! mmm wonder if I can take the other back now lol

goggles99 06-24-2013 12:07 AM

FYI - Eight person with 2 queen mattresses for $155.00 here

pointbob 06-24-2013 12:13 AM

anyone know if the air pump runs off car charger as well as c cells?

joerocket 06-24-2013 12:49 AM

all i need is an air mattress and pump... but tempted on getting this deal. it's basically getting a decent tent for like 40 bucks. i already have two tents tho... maybe i can sell this one?

mr.wolf 06-24-2013 12:50 AM

I was at walmart yesterday looking at this tent, checked the walmart site and saw this deal. customer service would not give me the deal so I had to place an online order, ship to store.
but yeah, great deal.

my online invoice shows 2 different line items

Ozark Trail 6-Person Instant Dome Tent 1 Ready for pickup starting
Wed., Jul 3 $62.97

Intex Fabric Queen Airbed with 6C Battery Pump 1 Ready for pickup starting
Wed., Jul 3 $22.03

Im going to try and return the air matress because I dont need it.

If i get the tent for $62.97, it would be a pretty sweet deal. Almost paid full price yesterday, lol.

Another option http://www.farmandfleet.com/produ...cgYqMu9KK0 6 or 8 person,great reviews

slimjim9059 06-24-2013 03:36 AM

Man this seems like a good deal! I've been looking for a tent and an air mattress... really for the back of the truck but this will do!

Amazon has $20 off $100 for coleman products. So, it would be cheaper at amazon.

Last week bought a Coleman 6 person instant tent for $139 last week and went for camping in the weekend. It would be fine for 2 adults and 2 small kids.

If your family is 4 but have teens, get 8 persons tent.

Anyone know if it is worth paying $70 to upgrade to the 8 man version being sold at Wal-Mart?

Did you read the positive reviews, where they experienced high winds and rain but had no leaks?

This is my debate as well. You get a bigger tent, with a room divider, as well as the second air mattress. But, it is the $70 increase in cost. If anyone has ever used the bigger one, can you give us some insight?

DesertCoyote 06-24-2013 06:20 AM

for average use a 6 person tent comfortably holds 3.

NicholasJ 06-24-2013 06:31 AM

This about this.. 70 dollar increase for a tent suit for 2 more people.. if you spend another 15.. you can get 2 of these.. plus 2 air mattresses.. plus 2 pumps.. so I would say no.. not worth upgrading.

Good point. Plus 2 of the 9x10 might be easier to set up and give you more privacy than a single 9x13. OTOH, the 8 person has a rainfly so that's a plus. The 8 person would also be better if you're a family with small kids.

bachak 06-24-2013 06:40 AM

What's the overall size when folded/packed?
Just thinking whether it's will take up too much space in Apt when not in use.

kelemvor 06-24-2013 06:50 AM

Tent is only 10' x 9' for anyone wondering what a "6-person tent" really is. It jsut means you can cram 6 sleeping bags in it, but that's assumign you have no supplies, clothes, or other equipment you might also want in the tent...

I can't say I used it. But a group we camped with had the 8-man from Walmart. I was very impressed. Very roomy and you can walk end to end without bending over. Would be ideal if you were sleeping for more than a weekend.

I have 2 young kids. I opted for the 6-man only for the reason of price. As with any tent you should get a seam sealer. Those complaining of the rain most likely never did that.

Buy two 6 person version, and you are essentially getting 4 persons extra space plus a spare pump for only $15 more over the 8 person version -- that's provided that the place you camp doesn't charge you fee per tent...

grumlenz 06-24-2013 07:24 AM

The item description of the 6 person tent says it fits 2 queen airbeds but the bullet points below the description specify that it fits 1 queen airbed.

Mystery123 06-24-2013 08:11 AM

You could put 2 queen air mattresses side by side, but they would be touching eachother and the side of tent. If anything is touching the side of the tent when it rains, it will get wet. I wouldn't recommend putting 2 queens in this tent.

Mystery123 06-24-2013 09:41 AM

Guys, do you think it'll be too big for a couple?
Should I get this one instead for $35?
http://www.walmart.com/ip/Ozark-T...4/22630912

abstractj 06-24-2013 09:43 AM

I don't know why Ozark market these tent as 6-person tent. Yes, maybe 6 umpa-lumpas or kids, but not 6 average adults. Same goes with Coleman tents. If you look at the pictures printed on the side of their carrying case, it clearly shows 3 sleeping bags for their 6-person tent. I guess they expect the other three adults to miraculously levitate at night. So, when you buy this tent, make sure to expect 3 adults max.

Yes, get this if you're a casual camper. The $35 is not an instant tent. The instant tent comes with all poles pre-attached to the tent. All you have to do is snap it together. The regular tent you will have attached the pole to the tent. It may not seem like a lot, but the difference could be 10 min. to 45 min. extra depending how experienced you are.

Youtube Dome Instant Tent and see it for yourself.

I personally think it be a great size this realistically fits 3 adults comfortably w/ storage space for bags and other things you wouldn't want to leave out. Plus with a pop up tent you'll be able to put it together in minutes and thats if your unfamiliar. I picked on up and its for a two and a dog.

Definitely do it fully assembled. It takes a few hours for it to dry so you want to be sure its all open.

It should last you a few years depending on how often you camp with it. Even with more expensive tents that claim to be waterproof I would use this stuff on. It's cheap and very easy to do.

beahaven 06-24-2013 10:51 AM

What tarp would you recommended using under the tent?

My main concern is that with 2 tents it basically means kids in a separate tent and security becomes an issue. Also, some locations only allow one tent per site or charge extra for multiple tents. Thanks for the suggestions though. Definitely wish it was less than the $70 difference, it would be a no brainer then.

The tarp under the tent is basically just to keep dirt and mud etc off the bottom of the tent. It does little to assist in keeping water out of the tent. Any of the cheap blue tarps or sheets of plastic or whatever will work. Make sure the tarp is under the tent and none sticks out from the tent because then water if it rains will run down the outside wall of the tent, onto the tarp, and right under your tent.

For security regarding rain and leaks, a piece of plastic or thin tarp on the inside of the tent, slightly larger than the footprint of the tent so it will curve up the inside of the walls, will be best to keep everything dry. Using one inside and one outside is probably the best you can do with tarps. Also consider the seam sealer mentioned earlier, as it is a great preventative step that can be done cheaply every 3-4 years or so.

Any tarp is fine. Even a large piece of plastic works too. I wouldn't go crazy with an expensive tarp as you wont need to stake it down. I bought a 10 x 10 for $8 at Wally World and works fine.

prankies 06-24-2013 04:04 PM

I had the worst night of my life in one of these cheap Walmart tents. Came back to it late one rainy spring night expecting to crawl into a warm sleeping bag--whole tent was completely flooded. Everything in it soaked to the core.

These things are fine for backyard camping and maybe a car camping trip where you are CERTAIN there will be no rain. They're also good for just storing your gear to keep raccoons out. But do no under any circumstance buy one of these tents and expect it to survive even a shred of inclement weather.

They are heavy, they mold/mildew, are cheaply made, will collapse in wind, completely flood, stretch, snag zippers, and tear easily. There is a reason they are so cheap.

What do you guys think about the Coleman Weathermaster minus the amazon 20 dollars off ($150)....compared to these walmart deals? Don't really care about the insta tents, it's a nice bonus but not a necessity. I have a family of 4, and would like the best tent for the price.

Was considering the Ozark 8 person tent as well.

Ordered the bundle yesterday, got the tent on my doorstep today. Nice! (Mattress still in transit)

Ordered mine late Monday night, got it by Thursday afternoon. Like someone previously posted on page one, I got two separate packing slips/receipts. I'm totally taking the air mattress back. So the tent costs me $68.64 tax included. Awesome!

I haven't tried yet, but will tomorrow. I'll let you know. Only thing you need to watch out with at Walmart is they have very strict return policy for air mattresses.

"Unopened Air Mattresses and Airbeds may be returned with receipt for refund or exchange within 15 days. Opened items with receipt may be exchanged within 15 days for same item or credit towards a future purchase. Defective airbeds may be exchanged within 90 days of purchase for the same airbed or for credit towards an airbed of equal or greater value."

So don't open it if you want to return it. I've been burnt before.

Hmmm funny thing is... mine came opened. I didn't really look much into it so I'll check when I get home if it can be sealed back up. Maybe they opened it on purpose because of this reason? hah... I'll let you know later.

Please let me know how Walmart takes an item back without receipt? I thought they changed their policy to allow returns only with receipt.

I received my mattress also in opened box! Though it was shipped in a brown box but its original box inside had cracked tape on one end so one side was completely open! Did someone return in a similar situation? I see someone posted that he/she also received in an opened condition. Please let me know. Thanks.

On the bundle, is it possible to return just the air mattress?
I already have air mattress so don't need another.

Skankin11 07-01-2013 11:56 AM

I was able to return just the air mattress using the receipt. My box arrived fully sealed, and I just returned it for the amount I paid, $22. The associate was careful to scrutinize that it had never been opened though! $22 for the air mattress is a good price, I am just not a fan of battery powered pumps (they are pretty weak) and I have too many camping mattresses already. Have fun guys!

got mine! pleased

I know I shouldn't have but I did. Returned air mattress without receipt. Received in-store credit in the amount of $35 + tax.
That is what they get for not letting me buy it for the sale price in store and making me drive back twice. lol ($5 in gas!)

*note: my air mattress was in a separate box, unopened, sealed. I might have been lucky to get it in this condition.

Also for those still reading and wondering how you can return without receipt:
Just bring the item to the customer service desk and say you want a refund but lost the receipt. They will ask for your ID and note your drivers license number on the computer. This is to prevent abuse of this system and limited to 3 returns without a receipt per year (I think).
