I saw that, and contacted CSR. They will change it soon. But yes, it comes with 1 year warranty. You can double check it...

cydes01 06-26-2013 07:08 PM

Good find.

Ranger187 06-26-2013 07:10 PM

Live, that's cool... As long as they change it, it's a steal....

Legally, they don't have to honor anything more than 90 days until they update it, or put 1 year on the receipt....

Good find ;)

82300sd 06-26-2013 07:25 PM

spent $530 refurbished on the 70-200 F4L in May and it's a great lens, worth every penny, looks like it's $50 cheaper (with tax), it's an awesome deal

furiousbagles 06-26-2013 07:30 PM

Double checked about the 1 yr warranty over the phone, said that some of the boxes still may have the 90 day warranty in it but ordering it online / having a receipt confirms a one year policy. Gonna order the 24-105 and the 50mm F/1.4 probs... especially as I picked up the EOS 7D earlier today on ebay. Good post, good sales.

Wait for few days. It will be in 50% price - $279.99 or there will be my fav. Sigma 18-250mm for $300 (or may be less, this time) deal within few days....

EDIT: I read too quickly. You were merely speculating about this.

I *sincerely hope* that the 50% deal comes back. I was an *idiot* to pass on it the first time.

Even better than that, maybe Amazon, Adorama, etc. can bring back the $499 price on the 70-300 IS with the $300 bundle discount... *sigh*

I see absolutely no proof of that anywhere on Canon's website...

Because it comes very frequently. That's the only answer.

furiousbagles 06-26-2013 08:03 PM

If you are ordering multiple lenses and go past $500, remember to order separately to take full advantage of these coupons...

70-200MM F/4L just went OOS... are these things refreshing in stock over time?

I think I would rather combine them into one order. There's no way I could save more than $125 in any combination of smaller orders.

In the past I think they sometimes add more stock during the sale. I got lucky and saw the sale 2 hours before it got posted on slickdeals and convinced the wife to let me get the 70-200 F4L. Even with tax I still got it under $500!

zc8 06-26-2013 09:10 PM

For a T3i, I already have 35mm f2.0, 50mm f1.4, and 70-200L, is there a need to get a 85mm f1.8?

Andygoes 06-26-2013 09:12 PM

In for the nifty fifty! Thanks for posting this - I've always been too late to the game.

Last line of description of each lens. Previously, it was 90 days.

Depends if you want to spend $500 or not, if you spend $450 or $200 or whatever its better to order sep.

You have the potential of saving $40 vs $20 example wise.

Kind of pissed I didnt have the funds for the 70-200 f/4 oh well, next time.

Albanianbrotha 06-26-2013 10:46 PM

shipping and tax brings the nifty fifty to 100 for me..noty

Jookmasta 06-26-2013 10:49 PM

Damn, I think with tax it comes out to around 550 or so. I wonder why that lens never goes on sale.......Must truly be that good. On the bright side, very very happy that I went the canon route. Nikon lenses go on sale as often as this lens that we have been watching lol.

Makes sense. I bought the 50mm so it didn't qualify for the free shipping.

Is there distortion at the min. & max even with higher end lenses?

Luong1209 06-27-2013 12:42 AM

Really wanted the 17-40L for that price. Would've bought squaretrade warranty in case :( bummer.

MDBarba31 06-27-2013 03:29 AM

Bit on the 60D from Buydig on Ebay the other day and three class 10 SD cards from Macmall for $30 about an hour ago, and now the 50mm 1.4 lens for 294?

This is serious.

I also have a T3i, Sigma 30mm f/1.4, Canon 50mm f/1.8, and Tamron 70-300, and I have been debating getting the 85mm f1.8 for some time. The only thing I've been struggling with is I don't take many outdoor portrait shots (yet). This lens would be great for that, but not so much inside, unless you have enormous rooms. You'd have to stand so far back to get a persons head in frame w/ 85 in doors (remember it's equivalent to 136mm on our crop sensors). In fact, I bought the 30mm because the 50mm was often times too tight indoors for me. Good luck! It's a great price either way!

Any suggestions on worthy fillers to get free shipping with the 50mm f/1.8 lens? I'm new to the DSLR world and looking to stock my bag (as I'm sure a lot of sd'ers are after the recent camera deals). I grabbed the SDHC cards this morning to compliment my new Canon T3i.

So far I've got the Rear Lens Cap [canon.com] for $5.35. I need another $14 to get free shipping.

amolpatil 06-27-2013 08:31 AM

Damn! The 50mm f/1.8 lenses with shipping and tax pretty much kills the deal. I found a really good one on craigslist just for $50. So tempted to go craigslist way.

The lens will come with a rear cap already, no need to worry about that. I would say grab a multicoat filter by hoya from amazon for about $10 and call it a day. That lens is awesome, loud but awesome.

With all refurbs lens and DSLR, Canon has a 1 year warranty. I think this makes up for the shipping cost. I think I paid $70 out the door when I bought the nifty fifty alone.

I contacted Canon, they are automatically going back 1 year in their system for warranty claims. That means, you will not need to call and ask for them to increase the warranty period since the process will increase the warranty period to 1 year, vs 90 days. Their phone customer support was very helpful too. Thumbs up to Canon.

pookiethrowaway 06-27-2013 10:24 AM

I bought the 50mm f/1.8 in the last deal, and am incredibly pleased with it. Sharp images, great for bokeh, and worth every penny.

Good find!

I ended up adding a wireless remote (model RC-6 [canon.com]) to my order to push it over $100. The initial product description doesn't include the T3i, but if you look for compatibility all the EOS models are listed. Amazon reviews are great and say it works nicely from a distance. I'm pretty happy with the addition.
