Free Angry Birds Star Wars Premium HD + 30 Amazon Coins (Kindle Fire) or Angry Birds Star Wars, Ad-Free (Android) Free

1 Attachment(s)
Right now Amazon has the Kindle Tablet Edition of Angry Birds Star Wars Premium HD for free (normally $2.99). You also earn 30 Amazon Coins with this purchase. Ultimately it's like they are giving you Angry Birds Star Wars HD Kindle Edition and 30 cents worth of credit for Kindle Fire compatible apps and in-app purchases for free.

Note: the 30 Amazon Coins will expire at the end of the month one year from the time they are earned, if you don't use them. Also, this version of Angry Birds is compatible with the regular (non-HD) Kindle Fire as well.

Angry Birds Star Wars Premium HD (Kindle Tablet Edition) [amzn.com]

For people who have other Android devices you can get Angry Birds Star Wars (Ad-Free) for free as well but it does not come with any Amazon Coins.

I wonder if it will work for my Nook HD+?

No it won't. It's the Kindle Tablet Edition which only works with the Kindle Fire. However, if you have the Amazon Appstore on your Nook HD+ it should be able to run Angry Birds Star Wars (Ad-Free) [amzn.com] which is also currently free.

Qson 07-12-2013 03:44 AM

I don't even have a Kindle Fire. I just added it to my account lol.

OP added a link to the general Android version (still kills me Kindle has it's own apps... what a clusterfark Android is), get that one instead ;)

I don't even use an Android device anymore... But adding free apps to my account is always great :P Maybe I'll pull the Touchpad off the stand (it's just for Crestron hardware control now) and play some Angry Birds Star Wars...

Or Blustacks would help. It's always a bad idea to miss the freebies.

Kindle also runs all the Android aps on the Amazon Appstore. The "Fire" apps are typically higher resolution or have more content.

I've gotten most of the Angry Birds premium editions for free from Amazon now.

Angry Birds Rio HD (Kindle Tablet Edition)
[amazon.com] and Angry Birds Rio (Ad-Free) [amazon.com] are still free if you haven't pick those up.

Are there any other apps that give 30 free Amazon Coins?

Also, remember all Kindle Fire owners get 500 free coins. You need to spend them before the end of the year.

It also bugs me. I do understand that there is a higher resolution and whatever, but it is annoying when buying apps for my two devices. The Kindle Tablet apps are usually not compatible with my Acer A200. The app store won't even let me download them. Most other apps I buy from Amazon will work with both devices. I like to be able to just buy the app once for both devices.

I agree, compatibility is a huge issue. I hate buying the same thing more than once. It seems like Kindle Editions will only work with a Kindle Fire and sometimes only with certain versions of the Fire. With the non-Kindle versions it's hit or miss if they will work with the Kindle Fire. For example, the regular ad-free version is showing as not compatible with the Kindle Fire.

To make things worse, even the same app my have different compatibility between Google Play and Amazon. Google Play said an app (Bad Piggies I think) was not compatible with the Nook HD+ while the non-Kindle version on Amazon was compatible. Android compatibility is just a mess. When deals like this come along I just get all the versions that are free, just to be safe.

There are other apps that you can earn coins by purchasing but none of them are currently free. I figured out you earn 10% of their regular price in Amazon Coins. Angry Birds Star Wars earns 30 coins because it's normally a $2.99 app. If you want to see the other apps that earn coins just go to the app store on your Kindle Fire and click the banner that says something like "earn Amazon Coins."

marcatwork 07-12-2013 06:11 AM

its free too for ipads.

You need the Amazon Appstore to be able to run ANY of these but you still usually can't run the Kindle Editions on anything but a Kindle Fire.

I like Amazon, but I'm not a fan of having to use their Appstore App if I want their apps, it's always pestering me to manually update it or something else.

wasabi_fu 07-12-2013 10:07 AM

Is this the same thing that is free on Google Play? Or is it the non-ad-free version that is on Google Play? I am new to this app stuff on android/google play/amazon. Thanks in advance for helping me understand this "new" world.

chris00cm 07-12-2013 10:10 AM

Do you need the Amazon app to just download these or do you need it to actually play them?

you have to have amazon app store app on your device. you don't have to use it or interact with it. it just has to be installed.

Is there a way for me to transfer my progress from the ad version over to the ad-free version? Or do I just have to do all the levels again?

Space_Monkey 07-12-2013 01:50 PM

Thanks for the heads up! I had previously gotten the Rio version when it first went free and now Star Wars!
30 coins sweetened the deal so I figured it is about time I start spending some of the 530 I've gotten for free. So I finally broke down and actually paid for my first app after more than a year subsisting solely on free and FAOTD apps.
Plants vs Zombies has been calling to me for 99 coins (plus 8 coin tax...) and I even got 10 more coins back for buying it... Now what to do with the remaining 433?

SterlingJones 07-12-2013 02:05 PM

As the reviews on the Amazon app store point out, there's no such thing as an "ad-free" game from Rovio, regardless of how they label it. There's the "free" version with 3rd party ads, and there's the "ad-free" version with Rovio ads and microtransactions galore.

That said, nice deal, thank you.

Paid $0 but I'm not seeing the 30 coins. I had 101 coins before and that's still all I've got.
Any thoughts on why no coins for me? (I own a Fire HD)

It looks like they removed the 30 free coins offer.

Earlier today it said "Reward: Earn 30 coins when you buy this app!"

Actually the Ad-Free version you linked is NOT compatible with the Kindle Fire. It's meant for some other Android devices. For me, it's showing as Nook HD+ compatible.

Rovio did not program in the ability to sync progress between devices. I think the only way to do it is to manually copy the save files from one i-device to another which can be a little involved.

While I'm not 100% sure, I'm pretty sure that the Kindle Tablet Edition is only compatible with the Kindle Fire. If there were some way to make the app store think your Nexus 7 was a Kindle Fire it may be able to install but I don't know if it would work.
