Nexus 7 2nd Gen 32GB Office Max B&M $215.99 + tax - Regional offer YMMV

4 Attachment(s)
Searched and did not find this deal anywhere. I know there are many Nexus 7 2nd gen posts already. Hope this will help someone looking for the new Nexus.

Picked up a Nexus 7 32gb 2nd generation from Office Max.
Item # 24127222
269.99 - 20% = 215.99 + 17.39 tax = 233.38

20% off is the Office Max bag promotion which includes tablets and ereaders. Bag promotion is probably regional but is currently valid here in Mesa, Arizona from July 28 - Aug 3, 2013. My bag came with my Sunday newspaper.

According to store manager release is July 30 but they are allowed to sell it today(Monday) as it shows up in their system. Discount also did not automatically work but the manager did a manual override to apply 20% off.

16gb version was not available in the store.
Manager thought that the 20% code might automatically apply starting July 30, the official release date.
If bag promotion not running now in your area, keep an eye out for it in the future.

Barcode on bag is 2372501107261327

Thanks to effinga for adding the bag barcode email link

Received email today @ 1am 8/2 reminding me to use 20% coupon. Email is from MaxPerks and has my Max Perks id # and name in the email.

Coupon code does not need override. Purchased a 32gb tablet from office max in Culver City, CA this afternoon (Friday 8/2) and the 20% automatically was deducted from the price. Quick and easy no hassle transaction!

corporate EMAIL has been sent out PROHIBITING THE USE of this coupon in most places but YMMV depending on management.

Good deal, now I just need to find one of those brown bags. Do you know if they have it at the store or is it just from the paper?

I actually did not have the bag with me but the store had an extra bag. The clerk scanned the barcode on the bag to take the 20% off. When it did not apply the manager maually reduced the price.

TheBaffler 07-30-2013 02:12 AM

I've never heard of this. Is it the weekly ad?

how do you get these bags! D: D:

jacure 07-30-2013 02:44 AM

These are like the bags at staples a few months ago.

Regulus 07-30-2013 05:45 AM

May drop by the local OM just to see if they have any brown bags laying around...:)

dealpmb 07-30-2013 05:52 AM

Probably you will you get 5% MaxPerks on top of it.
Sweet. Unfortunately, bag promo is not listed in online ad in my area.

The brown bag deal isn't mentioned in the OP's local add either.

How can one find out of it's in another region? Sounds like a great deal

Just call your OfficeMax and ask them if they are doing the "brown bag promo."

You don't have to mention the Nexus 7 at all.

chrispy442 07-30-2013 06:57 AM

Regional for sure. An office depot rep told me in person that the bag promotion is done periodically, but is done by area, and that their area (Charleston, SC) isn't doing it right now.

cunoodle2 07-30-2013 06:59 AM

Will the first gen of Nexus 7 be getting the same Android software updates? I really don't see, at this point, a huge advantage on the 2nd gen. I understand better processor specs but I've never noticed any lag on 1st gen. Thoughts??

The main reason overall is the full hd screen. It also has a rear facing camera but people who take pics in public with tablets are annoying cuz they often get in the way.

The full HD screen is incredible, dual speakers, and a much, much faster processor. Everything flies.

However, yes, the Nexus 7 2012 will be getting 4.3, and probably the next update after that.

Better everything including screen. It may or may not be worth it to you, but certainly makes a 1st gen purchase not worthwhile for those that are getting one for the first time.

morediscount90 07-30-2013 07:14 AM

still not available on my area on san jose ca? -_-. better wait for anotha promo of this nexus 2nd gen. :)

DesertCoyote 07-30-2013 07:36 AM

I listened to the speakers of a new nexus at BB and was not too impressed. The screen is nice.

my nexus 7 just had 4.3 software update pushed to it this morning.

chrispy442 07-30-2013 08:16 AM

Does anyone know where online to get a 32gb version with free shipping and no tax? I can not find anyone but google in stock with the thing. Amazon is saying 3-4 weeks before they get stock of the 32gb version. I figured today would be filled with retailers competing for the sale, offering free stuff and free shipping, and so far I've seen nothing at all.... newegg had free headphones, but again, out of stock....and regarding stock, clearly if people are out of stock, in so many places, there was not enough stock to begin with.

This barcode is the same exact one as the bag promo, so it's not unique. It might be region specific though. I'm going to give it a whirl at my local Staples.

vd853 07-30-2013 10:10 AM

Damn, I'm returning mine to bestbuy. No way I'm paying retail.

Xeno057 07-30-2013 10:24 AM

Officemax by me has them in stock. I'll be trying this after work with the coupon someone linked. Will report back.

HDTiVoFan 07-30-2013 10:28 AM

Just purchased my 32GB N7 from the Westfield, Indiana store for $215.99 plus tax. It was the last one they had. For some reason the coupon bag wouldn't work automatically so the cashier had to override.

My receipt shows a straight $215.99 with no coupon mentioned, so I went next door to the Best Buy to try my luck at price matching. I was hoping to get $25 back from AmEx to make the deal even sweeter. But customer service told me that they will only match ads and websites, no matching on receipt alone and no matching on coupons. They didn't have any in stock but I am glad I asked before driving to the next closet Best Buy and getting shot down.

I told the clerk I forgot to bring in the bag and he said thats okay we have extras. All he needed was to scan the barcode on the bag.

ljderm 07-30-2013 11:10 AM

Someone please post back if Staples will allow this coupon with the New Nexus 7 products. Turns out OM only carries the 32Gb.

omgdeal 07-30-2013 11:22 AM

Called couple OfficeMax in Chicagoland area and none of them have that promotion on now.

technolize 07-30-2013 11:23 AM

Just came back from Irvine, CA. Guy took a look at it and said it was from the east coast so they couldn't take it. He mentioned they will do it in 2-3 weeks here.

jimichunga 07-30-2013 11:33 AM

Called the Harrison St location in San Francisco - they are not doing the promotion.

WilliamG 07-30-2013 11:41 AM

I guess so? The manager had to do an override I think, and I wasn't expecting him to take 20% off both, but I certainly didn't complain. :D

sheltem 07-30-2013 11:50 AM

YMMV, but the Albany, NY Staples manager took the Officemax coupon. Unfortunately stupid Officemax doesn't carry the new Nexus 7 16gb; only the 32gb. And for the time being Staples B&M only carry the 16gb version and not the 32gb version!

Separate question, but I used $46 worth of Staples rewards, which expire tomorrow on 7/31. What happens if I return my Nexus 7 16gb? Do I get my rewards reimbursed with the original expiration date or does something else happen?

I took a printed copy to a store in Milwaukee, WI -- told them that I got it through a MaxPerks email.
The cashier tried to enter the barcode, but it wasn't working (she said that she was confused because it wasn't even saying "invalid"... it just wasn't doing anything). The manager came over, looked at the coupon, and was happy to apply a 20% discount.

Brought the $269 32GB down to $215.99 ($228.09 after WI tax).

Which store in PHX?

confused2much 07-30-2013 12:59 PM

I went into the store with coupon around noon today just to get some hands on time. I decided there wasn't enough "value" added over the first gen for me to upgrade right now. Great discounted price on a brand new tablet though.

I am in the same boat... Everyone is saying that the new one blows the old out of the water, but in my opinion, its not leaps and bounds better... not enough to justify another $200

Just called a store they said website list unavailable in store because store not allowed to sell them until official launch date. Since that has moved up, most stores has them and are allowed to sell them now.

You could sell your old one for 100-150. Probably only worth it if you watch tons of movies. HBOgo is not compatible with 4.3 yet, nor are any MKV players that I know of so I haven't tested out that aspect. But it is really fast.

DicePlayer just released an update today for 4.3. Haven't tried an MKV file but should work since it played a BluRay m2ts file

Thanks OP! I called and spoke to a manager at Staples. Asked if they'll price match a competitor's coupon and she said yes. I was able to go to staples to get an additional 20% off on top of the $30 coupon I got the other day. It may be YMMV.

$270 - $54 (20% coupon) = $216
$216 - $30 (staples coupon) = $186 + tax

Just tried a 1080p MKV episode of Spartacus on diceplayer...looks and sounds great! Had to sync audio by 0.2 seconds.

The new version is a huge upgrade in every way. I have the 1st gen and have compared them side to side. There is no comparison, really. From speed to the amazing display, to better form function, fit and finish. Even wifi performance is much better using 5ghz band. This is a huge upgrade. Feels like completely different level device. Makes my 1st gen look like garbage... and I loved the 1st gen before I got my new one.

Store where I purchased mine does not carry 16gb version. Few other posters also mentioned not seeing the 16gb model in store.

submatrix 07-30-2013 03:48 PM

I called one OfficeMax which was OOS but claimed to honor the brown bag sale. Another OfficeMax had 3 left in stock but claimed they weren't accepting coupons of any kind towards "these tablets." As always seems to be case, seems like it depends on which store/manager you get.

Got one in DFW. They did not have any stock and were about to do a store transfer, when the Fedex guy walked in with a delivery, which had one unit. The sales person was very nice and did an override to use the 20% off. Time to cancel my pickup from Staples. Saved $25, compared to Staples.

Thanks OP!

Went to one in SW Colorado, it didn't scan and the manager wouldn't override. He was saying that there was an e-mail that came out telling them to not honor the coupon. I'm debating about going to another one, but it's 7 miles away. The other closest 2 were OOS.

does anyone's charger seem to make a sound when u try to remove usb cord from charger? It almost feels like something is loose inside my charging cube when i pull the usb cord out. There's a little sound then it comes out.

I went to two stores and both said they will not be getting any until next week. They did not even have the display.

Same thing happened for me. I don't own any tablets and hadn't even researched the Nexus until I saw this thread and realized with the 20% off bag coupon it was a decent deal. Family has been bugging me for an Ipad, so I figure this should be just as good except a smaller screen and about half the price at $215.99.

Before buying I called 2 Office Max and 2 Staples stores. Both Staples had no 2nd gen Nexus in stock (1 volunteered they hadn't received any yet). Both Staples were also OOS on the 1st gen Nexus with the $30 off coupon + 25% back in Rewards. 1 Office Max said they got and sold 3 2nd gen 32 GB units this morning and didn't receive any 16 GB units. The other Office Max said they got 3 32 GB units (1 was a display) and no 16 GB units. Basically it was slim pickings and I got the next to the last unit available.

Nobody has mentioned buying a 3 year warranty with ADH which I did because I was told I can get a refund within 14 days if I change my mind. For a Nexus 7 at $215.99, a 3 year warranty with ADH is $55 at OMX. With a 30% off code it's $49.49 at Squaretrade.

My understanding is Squaretrade doesn't fix things that cost a lot to repair, and I assume fixing a Nexus 7 would cost about as much as it cost. So Squaretrade would either (1) give you a different refurbished Nexus 7 or (2) simply refund the price you paid. I believe Office Max will give you a new one (one time I assume and then you have to buy another warranty). This makes Office Max's $55 warranty seem better for only $5.50 more. Is this correct?

I just know my family will drop and break it within a 3 year period considering how they break remote controls and portable DVD players.

Mikeabcd 07-30-2013 04:45 PM

If they're not willing to manually override and try telling you the coupon isn't valid, have them try it on the old Nexus 7 or another tablet to prove it works. That's the only way I got the manager to manually override it and give the discount.

They actually pulled the old model Nexus 7 and said it was the new version. That's how I found out the coupon worked in Austin. It's good they did, since the manager initially said he wouldn't do an override and he probably wasn't supposed to sell the new model yet when the coupon didn't work on it.

Quite a hassle, but I got it $215.99+tax.

Now off to figure out how to unlock the bootloader. Since unlocking the bootloader wipes everything, I'd suggest doing it before configuring everything if you think you'll want to do it down the road. Can't imagine owning an Android device without an unlocked bootloader and root...

Cool might try the memorial site later if I have time. Actually wanted a 10" take for my parents. Just want to know if it works here. Thanks for the info

dauss 07-30-2013 04:56 PM

When I was calling around the stores near me, 2 said that they were sold out. The other 2 told me that they weren't sure if they were allowed to sell it yet. One of the managers told me that they had a lot of them, but when they tried to scan it yesterday, it would ring up as $10,000. To make sure that he was able to sell it, he tried scanning it today and it was the normal price, but when I went he didn't take the coupon.

phonic 07-30-2013 05:14 PM

Hrmmm. I have one I bought at BB a few days ago. It's in perfect condition (solid, no dead pixels, etc.) so I don't want to deal with possible problems on a new one. Are the UPCs identical? Would I be able to buy one at Office Max and return that one (unopened) to BB to get my original retail price back?

I exchanged a couple of Nexus 7s for crappy quality control issues, so I've gotten the unlocking/root access down to a science now. Under two minutes from start to finish, heh!

Ran out to Office Max and picked one up. Took me all of 2 mins. No questions. Girl even offered the 20% brown bag coupon without me saying a thing.

got one from OM too. manually applied the coupon without questioning.

I now dont feel upset about missing the staples deal.

robinski_ 07-30-2013 07:06 PM

Quick question for you OM gurus, how do their registers work with prepaid cards? Is it like at Staples where I can just swipe as many as I like and then give them the last 4? Or do I have to specify how much I want to put on each card?

I'd think twice or three times about the warranty. Tablets start to seem obsolete in just a few months. A newer, better, and possibly less expensive one will come along soon.

I had success in Columbus, OH this afternoon. Coupon wouldn't scan but the associate did an override with no questions asked.

Unless you plan to brake it in the next 6 months , I will skip the warranty. Make sure you read the fine print on the insurance contract to see what's covered and what's not . don't take OM or other staff word for it.

I went to that Meyerland around 8:00pm and they said they were sold out. However, I went to the best buy two stores down and they price matched. I talked to the customer service guys, NOT the tablet area.

It ended up being $184 plus tax for the 16gb version. AWESOME!

I would definitely print out both pages. Went to a Chicagoland location this evening for the 32gb and both the customer service person and manager inspected the exclusions looking for a reason to deny the coupon before finally giving me the discount. A little bit over $230 for the 32gb out the door!

whats the return policy on tablets at OM... I got a $50 gift card (from the nook HD deal a few weeks ago) and I would love to get one, use the $50 and 20% off and play with it for a bit to check it out (or maybe not and just sell it sealed new in box) and flip it on CL for at the very least my out of pocket costs (an in essence turn that $50 gift card into cash)

anyone think this is a worthwhile idea since that $50 gift card isnt getting any use so far.... would much ratheturn it into cash

Mamon 07-30-2013 10:26 PM

Thanks so Much OP you just saved me $150!

I was mad this morning with all the threads on deals on staples, and me having bought mine at retail price at bestbuy. So I called a Store in Tucson, AZ and they had one in stock, prepared my coupon on the cellphone and expected quite honestly to be shutdown.

Arrived asked them about the stock since they didn't even had a display unit out, told them I was the one who called and Manager told me he still had one someone else had called and bought one. Told him I had the BAG coupon he didn't even look at my cellphone open up a drawer and took one real BAG coupon and scanned. Nothing happened, so he looked at the bag for details and manually override the price to 215.99.

There was another OfficeMax within a mile so I head up there because I needed a second unit. The Wetmore store did have stock so I bought another, I did get a little bit more questions when I show the coupon, thay asked me my rewards number, I told them I lost all info on that, so they enrolled me in the Maxperks wich is even cooler since I can now get %5 back perks. There are still 2 left in stock in the Wetmore store when I left.

So for my final piece of luck Next to the office max there was the bestbuy I bought 2 16GB on Saturday, and I went there and asked for price match and he immediately say yes and adjusted 20% ($184.99 plus tax). I was surprised that they didn't even want to look at my receipt he said yeah no problem and did the pricematch. This is very YMMV!

The 2 16GB were Gifts I was waiting for a 32 for my family and now I have two.

Thanks OP.

Tried to see if Amazon would match the 20%, but no go. Would've been awesome not having to pay tax. Will try staples and best buy tomorrow.

AntimonyER 07-31-2013 06:17 AM

Grabbed one at my local OM last night. Got the last one according to the clerk. (whew). Checked the brown bag after the coupon didn't take, but did a manual override as it clearly stated included tablets :)

freshouttatime 07-31-2013 07:19 AM

coupon worked in Bohemia, NY. management said promotion isn't in NY yet, but have to honor it since its available on the web. seemed to have both 32 and 16 in stock!

Ratamacue 07-31-2013 07:52 AM

There's nothing in the fine print on this coupon that makes it invalid at Staples. I've been eyeing the Nexus 10 to replace the aging TouchPad, and 20% off plus 5% back in rewards sounds like a decent deal. I can sell the TouchPad on CL for $120 and only be $250 OOP.

Thanks OP!

They stamped in red on my receipt that I had 15 days to return it. And if it is opened, there is a 15% restocking fee. That is why I haven't opened mine yet. Waiting to see if there is a better deal. Then I need to join the flood of people selling their first gen on ebay.

mrbhappy 07-31-2013 08:12 AM

has anyone actually seen the 16 gb at office max or have a sku #?

NQxxx 07-31-2013 08:53 AM

Thanks and repped OP!

Hit the OD near my work early this morning hoping they can place the online order and pricematch (couldn't have it ship to store). The manager said they just got their shipment in. I double checked to make sure it's the N7 2 (not the old version).
She was happy to pricematch the 20%. Also added the OD waranty for $50/2 years. Will have 14 days to think about it if I want to cancel. Can anybody comments on this warranty vs Squaretrade one? Is it worth it?

RyanM55 07-31-2013 08:56 AM

Just picked up a 32gb for $229.xx with tax in Canton, OH. Didn't get the warranty because I wasn't sure about the price vs ST, but they said I have 14 days to come back and purchase it.

eduncan911 07-31-2013 09:18 AM

Our nearest OfficeMax is about an hour's drive. The cost of gas outweights these savings.

I called our local Staples store, talked with the "Assistant Manager", and she said they will not price-match coupons from other stores.

Anyone got a "Corporate" number so I can call to override her?

Called the local Office Depot, they the manager was more than happy to "honor all coupons from competitors." But, they had none in stock and had no delivery date.

Called the local Best Buy and talked with the store manager, he said absolutely no on honoring that type of discount "on this new tablet." I may try the customer service desk this afternoon.

Area: Poughkeepsie, NY

slopokdave 07-31-2013 09:20 AM

Got the last one at my local OM in Jacksonville. No issues at all, but the coupon didnt work he had to manually do it.

bionichomer 07-31-2013 09:23 AM

Awesome deal! Saved $54 off the 32gb version. Got one last night in Marietta, GA. Worked for about 2 hrs, and would not power on after that (tried charge, reset, etc). Swapped it in Duluth, GA this morning. Hopefully this new one doesn't have problems. Thanks SD and OP!

Coupon didn't work also, but manually discounted like slopokdave said.

Bottom line: Staples policy is to accept competitor's coupons. Best Buy, not so much.

Keep in mind that if the nearest OfficeMax is an hour's drive, your local Staples is within their rights to NOT deem them a "competitor." Thus, they wouldn't be required to honor their "competitor's coupon," as it's not really in direct competition with their B&M store.

My closest OM is about 45 minutes north, and my Staples was only barely willing to bend on the pricematch (though they didn't have the 32GB in stock yet). If it was next door, they would do it in a heartbeat, though, as it takes a sale from OM. Get it?

Still sounds like your local Staples Mgr is off in her policy, though, by saying they don't accept.

thumperstain 07-31-2013 11:20 AM

Worked in Houston at the store on West Gray. They had another one available when I was there too.

Like others said, take both pages of the coupon. It required an override and the manager read everything twice looking for a way out. No problems.

Thanks OP!

- Meant to add that they held it for me after I called on the phone, so save yourself the hassle.

Staples is the absolute cheapest considering you could get a 16GB for 199+tax. But for the 32GB, this is the best deal going, 215.99 vs. 239.

Not sure what's going on in your area, but I just used this for a brand new Nexus 10 for 20% off plus 5% back in rewards.

I tried this and was rejected. BB wouldn't accept the coupon nor my receipt which showed the $215.99 and didn't reference the coupon.

And if you can get your Staples to honor the coupon, it's the even best-er deal at $183+tax!

From our very own SD FAQ:
  1. Does Staples accept competitor's coupons?YMMV, but most Staples (along with Office Depot and Office Max) will accept each other's coupons, the most common being a $/$$ coupon. You will have to ask the cashier/manager. Generally, the only restrictions will be what is printed on the competitor's coupon. (So if you can't use Office Max's coupon on a Kindle at Office Max, Staples will not allow it either.)

I tried at the Marlboro and Freehold Staples. The managers at both said no. :[

Tried to use at Staples in Fort Worth, the manager gave me a BS excuse that they do not take competitors coupons on Computer and Tablets.

thaitim 07-31-2013 12:45 PM

Looks like LA area doesn't have any at OM or Staples. Anyone have any luck? I bought a 16gb from BB yesterday and really like it, but I think that I definitely need more memory.

I would ask them to read this aloud:

Which items and services aren’t available for price match?

We don’t price match to competitors’ or our own local special events (e.g. grand opening, anniversary, clearance, timed sales or liquidation sales). We don’t price match: our Staples® EasyTechsm services; our third–party providers’ products and services (e.g., custom printing) or items sold on auction sites; taxes; warranties; typographical errors; gift cards; or merchandise credits.

Nothing there about computers or tablets. Don't be bashful about quoting chapter and verse to these maroons.

scooterp7 07-31-2013 01:07 PM

Curious thing: Got the OM deal last night for the 2nd Gen 32GB.

Today, I went back with another coupon (they take/keep them) and picked up a kindle PW.

Just looked at the receipt, and it took off 21.80 + 10.00 for deal xxxxx (a code is there) savings for a total of 87.20 + ~ 7.00 tax for ~94.00. (BTW, the coupon scanned w/o override).

Lastly, a little input would be appreciated: Is the Galaxy Tab 2 8GB which is clearanced priced at $179 not counting the coupon (so ~$143.00 + tax) a good price for that? I tend to think not considering my new Nexus came to ~216.00 not incl tax.
But I would appreciate some thoughts on the Tab 2, and can't help but wonder if the same deal savings of $10 will be applied.

TIA.

I got one yesterday at the Culver City one. Brought in the printout of the coupon posted earlier. Required a manager override, but wasn't too much of a hassle.

Madison, WI: Both OM's east and west still sold out since Sat. 7/27 because they were allowed to launch early. 20% bag sale is in effect thou (since 7/28) but no N7-2 stock and shipments unknown. Best (worst) Buy wouldn't match a competetor's "coupon."
Maybe OD or Staples to PM...we'll see.

TidalWaveOne 07-31-2013 03:23 PM

Got mine (32GB) with the coupon at my local OfficeMax. Got the 3 year warranty too because it covers handling damage and they took 20% off it as well.

They didn't have the 16GB version but it's not a rip-off to get another 16GB like it is with Apple.

It's slick! But I do like the iPad mini's aspect ratio better... but the Nexus' screen is SHARP.

endershadow 07-31-2013 03:28 PM

Any idea how many weeks it takes for decent screen protectors to come out? I haven't taken the plastic off yet

My hubby's friend laughed at us for rushing to get $30 off at staples while he got the 20% off at OfficeMax a few days later - which I agree is a better deal. We got the $30 + 20% pm coupon - guess who's laughing now?

Went to a officemax in phoenix which had a32 gb in stock....A sales rep was willing to give the 20% off . The grumpy looking manager walked in told me it cannot be applied to the new nexus 7 as it was on sale from the 30 th. I told one of my friends bought it with the coupon which was applicable to tablets . Even then it was no go. I told him to go keep it packed neatly in the store room and walked out. I am not in a hurry and can wait.

Which OMAX?

Most I checked are OOS.
I went to one yesterday and manager told me they cannot sell it before release. Today I called and they were OOS.

So for in PHX area, I have following:

1. Some OMAX sold it yesterday and some did not.
2. Some gave discount and some did not.
3. Some were really OOS and some pretend to be OOS.

I wish there is any way to complain to corporate.

rebutiw 07-31-2013 04:29 PM

One on Broadway and rural... I don't think you can get the discount here. The manager seems to be new and a real ass and seems to know this product well. Since manager over ride is required there is a more probability of a refusal.

Lucky you! I only got 20% off the Nexus... it didn't even occur to me to try to ask them to give me 20% off the warranty and who knows if they would've done it. As it is, I'm borderline on keeping the 3 year warranty at $55. At $44 it would be an easier decision. With the warranty, if you damage it any time within 3 years, Office Max will repair it or give you an equal or greater replacement, right? Or do they just give you a credit of what you paid ($215.99) towards buying something else?

Buy a screen protector and a case and you will be fine. B&M stores love selling warranties, it's $$$ directly in their pocket.

I think the accidental damage will result in an OMAX gift card if unfixable. Advantage of Square Trade is they will give you cash. Usually lots of coupons for Square trade.

Tintinet 07-31-2013 05:33 PM

Tablets seem so disposable to me now. I wouldn't even think of buying a warranty.

Love the screen, but still prefer the size, touch response, and apps of the iPad Mini.

CNBC app just crashes on this. Rock solid on iPads.

Manager is a SCUMBAG. Lol...we should meet up and see if Old Bridge will do it. I was able to get 20% on top of the $30. I want to get one for the hubby since I got it for $187 + tax.

mrbhappy 07-31-2013 09:06 PM

had you purchased with $30 and just asked them adjust price on that receipt, or return/rebuy?

I got the 20% with absolutely issue tonight on a second at staples and am thinking about trying to get the 20% off the first one I bought with the $30.

At first the manager told the cashier to do a return and rebuy. She asked me if I have the credit card and I said my husband bought it with his credit card so I don't have the card with me. She gave me a 20% off on the regular price $270 of the tablet.

Originally bought the 32GB the day it was available at BB $286.99. Saw all the deals and realized I paid way too much. Called Officemax in Northborough, MA and they had one left! Asked them to hold it, printed coupon, returned original to BB and booked it over to OM. They took the coupon and ended up paying $230 out the door! Thanks OP!

jcesar085 07-31-2013 10:34 PM

I also preorder one at BB(still hasnt arrive), i tried to see if they can pricematch it but they wont bulge.

Which $30 coupon did you use? Is it the one that was out last week? If so wasn't it valid till July 28?

I, too would love to know which coupon. There is a $30 one this week only for the original Nexus. Is it possible that this is working on the new one?????

eduncan911 07-31-2013 11:34 PM

Local BestBuy rep said, "we get these at cost. Our profit is only on accessories. I won't honor 20% off on this tablet; but, if you open a BestBuy credit card, I'll give you $20 off as that cones with the CC offer. In addition, I'll give you 50% off all Nexus 7 accessories we have (I picked out a case, HDMI mini cable, car charger)."

Decide to go for the deal... Then, he found out he had no 32gb in stock. Doh! He said 50% off would still be offered with CC if I go with 16gb, but I had to buy then tablet to get the 50% off. Damn it.

Them, I went to BestBuy Mobile a few stores down in the mall. They had 1 32 GB in stock! And the sales rep would honor the 20% coupon!

Only problem is,"we price match on items they have in stock.". Hr called the closes OfficeMax, sold out. He called two others for good measure, all sold out... Damn it!

My hubby bought the tablet with the $30 coupon last week. I brought in the receipt and the 20% off coupon to do pm. The manager override the transaction.

charlesmith 08-01-2013 09:09 AM

just bought one with manager override at Deerfield IL store. last one I think. entered coupon did not work read coupon off phone and said eh ok. This guy was manger on duty but did not have manager badge so perhaps he does not receive Corp emails. thanks office max 233ish out the door.

timlot 08-01-2013 09:42 AM

Just picked up one in Houston. Manager had to override and I heard him make a comment to the cashier about getting "hit up" with these 20% off coupons. Whatever that means. No problems with the purchase though. Can't really beat $60 off a just released tablet.

Belyk 08-01-2013 10:06 AM

Returned my first nexus 7 to Staples because it was defective, they asked if I wanted an exchange and I told them I do but I'd rather purchase from OfficeMax down the street because of the 20% off coupon.. cashier at the register didn't even make me show the coupon, she just rung up another Nexus 7 with the 20% off.

They don't carry the 32 GB either so I was out the door with the 16 GB for $200 w/ tax, $44 cheaper than the first go around :)

mckeller 08-01-2013 10:11 AM

Just scored 2 @ Staples!

Had to go to 3 staples to do it. First Staples manager said yes, then he comes back and tells me he has none. Second Staples said they didn't know and called corporate to verify coupon. Corporate could not verify, so the answer was NO. Go to the third Staples and the manager tells me he doesn't think so I will ask the General Manager (he was working one of the cash registers). I make sure he sees that the coupon reads "includes tablets and E readers". He continues to read over the entire coupon then says "Sure I will honor that."

So my total for 2 16gb Nexus 7s was $392.05!

chong67 08-01-2013 10:54 AM

Hummm, now I see that. Not sure how they can argue when it clearly states it can be used on tablets. I was thinking of driving 30 miles to use this as well because it is tax free weekend but would hate to waste gas.

Thumbs up to OP!!!

I was able to use the coupon to snag a 32GB at Office Max for $236 out the door. This was in Peoria, AZ.

Now to figure out what to do with my old Nexus 7............

My local office max is 10 miles away from home. So I went there, the coupon would not scan. Cashier call one guy (not sure if he is a manager, but probably not). He typed things on the keyboard... still the system would not take it. Then he said maybe this tablet is excluded. It is new released tablet. .. so I can't apply the coupon on the new Nexus 7.

shane.kelly55 08-01-2013 12:25 PM

Just got the last one at the Plano, TX location!!!!

jambuckles 08-01-2013 12:30 PM

Coupon is now hard to use. Cashier had a copy of it near the register with a note about the new Nexus 7. IIt is a case of finding the right employees or managers, ymmv.
