It was one of the best ram deals we've seen in months and it didn't make the FP for some reason unknown to everyone.
Nothing to worry about, just an oddity :P

nanobeast 08-29-2013 03:06 AM

I am assuming the heatsinks in 4 of these will get in the way of bigger coolers like the Hyper 212 EVO?

These may not fit with larger air coolers if you wanted to use 32gb (four, as you said)
If you just wanted to use 16gb, it would fit with a hyper evo 212 or similarly sized coolers but maybe not with a NH-D14 or thermalright silverarrow sb-e.

Example using 16gb (Corsair Vengeance) with a Zalman Optima (similar to evo 212).

Damn, I just bought the ares ram the other day that was shellshocker for the same price and its cas lat was 10 and 10-10-10-24 instead of this ram that is 9-9-9-24

The real kicker is the ares ram is ugly orange too...

Well I guess you win some you lose some...at least I didnt pay MORE

cyrusfox 08-29-2013 05:07 AM

I currently have two of these in my desktop(they are awesome and run the timings as advertised). This is a great price currently but for some historical information, I got them for $79.99 back on 8/24/2012. But since then, DRAM ASP(Average selling price) have shot up along with Nand prices, I miss those days...

akyyyy 08-29-2013 09:42 AM

I just ordered this for $99 last night. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Pro...6820148466

Is there much of a difference between these 2 sticks of RAM? I was hesitant ordering because they only had 4 reviews but i thought what the heck, and now these show up. Do you think it's worth returning and buying these ones? And i'm not referring to the money ($10 cheaper) but the quality.

I was able to use a 4x4GB G.Skill Sniper set up, I just had to raise the fan on my cooler (hyper 212 plus) a bit, I slightly bent the bottom two cooler fins for extra clearance.

pic of my set up: https://www.dropbox.com/s/wyuds5u...%20Ram.jpg
I had just installed my video card in that picture, I have since turned the cooler and I only had to lift the fan on the cooler, no clearance issues with the cooler fins.

Yes, these gskill snipers are faster 1600mhz and faster, the timings might be faster as well,
does your motherboard support 1600mhz memory speed?
If not, then it probably wouldn't benefit you. Although these are cheaper and better

Yes, that was the only picture I had available (the benefits for fitment questions outweighed the shame), but I have fixed the tangle of wires now.

milsurp 08-29-2013 03:30 PM

Aw man, that's only $178 for 32 GB and I want it. But my 16GB is only a couple months old and really works well! It's no fair! *First World SlickDeal Problems*

MecroU 08-29-2013 03:32 PM

Good price now that ram prices have risen.

sv650touring 08-29-2013 04:05 PM

This is a good deal for this amount of memory at any speed, but memory speed and timings has basically no perceptible effect on performance.

Even if you were using the most RAM-dependent situation out there, maybe gaming on an APU, the difference between how fast it ran with the fastest and slowest memory out there would not be worth paying extra for.

The heatsinks on these aren't that big. I have a pair of the 2400mhz.

I would go with these Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 [newegg.com] for $49 a pop. They are lower profile, and more better rated. They were also $45 each few weeks back. But then again they would match the pair that I already bought which is my main concern :)

You can stick with the GSKILL unless height is a problem for you as it is for some people's cooling solutions.

ScArE2100 08-29-2013 04:46 PM

I got a set. Upgrading from 4GB 800mhz ram, wonder if I'll notice a difference :P Rep'd.

RobertR4818 08-29-2013 04:50 PM

In for 1 thx

zetaldr 08-29-2013 05:28 PM

Building a new computer. In for 2.

jacure 08-29-2013 05:38 PM

Just ordered 4, lol. I alr3ady ordered the 8gb ballastic last night, now I have 40gb total. Not a bad deal for $227.

nolf66 08-29-2013 05:48 PM

Good deal with current ram prices for 8gig sticks at cas 9. I got some of the 2400 last week so no buy for me.

johnnyg47474747 08-29-2013 06:02 PM

Anyone rue the fact that they passed up on $25 for 8gb back in December?

quincyshadow 08-29-2013 07:29 PM

To buy or not to buy

vd853 08-29-2013 07:33 PM

All I do is play games, really graphically intense games. Do I need 16GB?

No, you don't need 16GB. Very few people do in fact. For most games, 4GB is already enough. I would suggest 8 gigs just in case and since it's cheap.

jacure 08-29-2013 09:52 PM

I'm putting 16 gigs in mine. It's better to have too much than too little.

Noplay 08-29-2013 09:59 PM

In general, this statement is correct, but in this particular case, it does not apply because 8 gigs is not too little. Some would say that 8 gigs is even too much, and all you really need is 4. Well, anyways, this RAM is OOS

msdeal 08-29-2013 10:20 PM

thanks op for separating me from my money! dam ram got me again man.

lucky88shp 08-29-2013 10:47 PM

16GB is an overkill for daily use and gaming! I am happy with my Crucial Ballistix 2x4GB for $42!
Great deal though...

ALright, I'll stick with my 8GB. 4GB is a bit too short though, unless all you have open is the game. I usually have other stuff open, but not running.
