Not the best reviews...still waiting for BF deals.

Good reviews on Best Buy and Amazon, but poor reviews from CNET editors. Also, not edge-lit, but not a fully back-lit either.

This is $150 cheaper than the Amazon price though!

DXM31 10-24-2013 07:44 AM

Holding out for a 60" for this price...notice I am still waiting.

Slickdeals will make note of this and keep it in a top-secret lair.

Hold out. The 55la6900 and 55la7400 were $850 ($1,000 - 6%cb - 1 yr Netflix) almost daily two months ago. I picked up two 55la6900's and they have been great so far for the price. Not as nice as my Samsung but at $600 less I would expect that.

Use shop discover to get 5% off from tiger direct, they also have an additional 5% on the first 1500 in online purchases assuming you have not used that.

This is a solid TV model, but definitely not a top end. If you are looking for "best of the best" picture quality, this is not the TV for you, but you're also not looking anywhere near this price point either. I do believe that this is probably "below cost" on this model, meaning LG is giving a payback to Tiger Direct for each purchase. You won't find a much better deal on this model New In Box (if you do, congrats, and make sure you share!).

Also, those of you waiting for "Black Friday" should be aware that most "big sale" items on Black Friday are NOT regular models, they are models made SPECIFICALLY to be cheap for Black Friday. This means lower contrast ratios, fewer inputs, and cheaper parts. There will be plenty of regular models with sale prices, but not the crazy BF "Front Page of the Ad" deals you think of.

I can read and have never had issues with stacking. Have done at Home Depot and Sears, but never at Tiger Direct. Guess I will find out. Either way the 5% for online purchases will work.

is there any discount on 55GA7900?

Again, Amazon has matched these LG deals in July on the 60" model of this. Not sure how they were convinced to do that but it was a coupon as well. Please go ahead and submit the price. Link is in the feedback section:

Can anyone tell me why this is ~$120 (after tax) better than the dell 55LM4600 deal a couple of weeks ago for $700?

Who said it is a better deal or not? You're comparing apples to oranges, depends what you need. For starters this is a 2013 model, that was 2012.

SilversnowFFXI 10-24-2013 11:05 AM

Offhand this is a smart tv with wireless. The other also was on dell which in my state would end up with tax for me. TD oddly enough would be no tax.

That's exactly what I'm asking. What's the difference between this and the dell deal. And I hardly think that comparing two lg 55" tvs is apples to oranges.. maybe granny smith to day old fuji.

If having the Smart Functionality is a must for you, then you can not put the two tv's in the same category. If you don't care, then you are absolutely right, the $700 TV is a better deal just by looking at specs.

I don't even need the wifi, and am still willing to pay the extra $150 for the added functiionality and design.

Streaming issues have been an issue on LG's

cbtaylo 10-24-2013 01:21 PM

I have seen some streaming issues with the LG's but the price point is good.
