Order placed on December 3rd and they are based in NJ!!! I could have walked there and back and had my package... No... More...Tanga. Why not transfer it to California too?

I picked up the brown trifold last month. It feels pretty solid and has held up pretty well so far. One thing I will say is that it doesn't comfortably hold many different credit card type cards. I have 2 cc's, debit card, health insurance card, dental insurance card and my regal crown card. I could maybe fit two or 3 more in behind those cards, but I feel like everywhere gives out those plastic cards nowadays. I had to trash "rewards" cards for like 8 different places. I would definitely recommend this wallet for this price, just don't expect to pack it full of cards.

PSA: "Genuine" leather is utter crap. It's the particle board of leather and simply won't last. If you see something you want to buy and it's made of genuine leather just walk away. Unfortunately just about everything not in a high end leather store is genuine leather.

When I learned what genuine leather was I discovered nearly every leather belt I owned was made of the stuff and it showed. I just want all you frugal folks to know, if you are buying something leather because you expect it to last, if it's genuine it will not.

I know the feeling. My order is scheduled to be delivered 23rd of December and it's sitting at the post office collecting dust. I don't now what kind of shipping they use but it's obviously the whenever type.

RonnieTeeSmith 12-20-2013 11:52 AM

I ordered a brown tri-fold last month. I agree with another poster that it doesn't hold many cards well. I only hold two cards on each fold, and one other card where I keep my cash.

Any cards not kept in the fold-pouches will make the wallet bulge and crease the leather, so I threw out some cards so it wouldn't ruin the leather so quickly.

However, it feels sturdy to me, it is well-made and definitely leather as well. I would recommend it for the price.

I didn't really pay attention to Tanga's delivery speeds, but as with any of my online shopping deliveries, I tend to forget about them until my doorbell rings.

I bought three last time. My son is using a bi-fold and I am using a tri-fold. It's real leather and solid construction. Solid quality for $8.

I have 3 cards on each side of the tri-fold and 3 behind each side. I also have 2 ID's in the middle ID area and another 8+ cards in the wallet pocket area.

No issues at all. It needs to stretch out a little bit but all wallets stretch to their actual use over a few months. Again, I'm pretty happy with it for $8.

BTW. Mine showed up a couple weeks after the order was placed.

I got the brown bifold on the last ROLF FP deal from Tanga. The 'leather' is very thin. The die on the leather makes it look really cheap. It just has a very cheap over all look and feel....heck it was only 7 bucks so...Maybe I expect too much. I read a bunch of SD'ers praising them so I gave it a shot. I was unimpressed though.

This dude is trolling. As the 2 people before stated, and I will confirm, I bought one of them and was extremely impressed with what I got for $8. Is it as good as a high-end wallet? No, but it's freaking eight bucks, it's not suppose to be. The cheapest wallet you can pick up at WalMart is aroud $10, and it's a faaaaar cry from this wallet here.

Good wallet, get it.

warandart 12-20-2013 01:42 PM

I made a promise to myself after my previous purchases from Tanga...to never ever buy another product from them again. Terrible shipping time, horrible quality of products. Pass.

MilrTime83 12-20-2013 01:43 PM

I got the bi-fold last time this deal was posted. These things are huge. It's about 2 inches longer than it needs to be to hold bills. When it's empty, it is as thick as my current wallet is full of cards/cash.

The shipping company they use is their fault and maybe the shipping wouldn't be so bad if it didn't take 7+ days to process and ship out a simple order.

I got the black tri-fold last time. Great wallet for the price, shipping was faster than I was expecting based on comments I'd read. (Received about 1 week from the time order had been placed). Just ordered another one for my son.

I think some of the cowhide for these wallets is from the vinyl breed rather than the leather breed of livestock. The vinyl cows are much more rare, so I decided to pull the trigger and jump on this deal.

This will make a great Easter gift when it arrives in April.

treehorn 12-24-2013 08:48 PM

I picked up a few of these. Ilike the trifold for a front pocket wallet, be better if just duofold for the thinner profile. who knows where these are made, the ones i got from the previous deal didn't say, but they seem well enough made and may even be originals and not knockoffs. Great deal for the price, thanks for posting this.

Funny, when I search for "Rolfs Genuine Leather Folding Wallets", it shows $3.99 and when I click on the image, it shows $7.49

Hefner413 12-31-2013 10:24 AM

I'm about to get the front pocket wallet... quick online search looks like it's an ok deal to me. Quick search shows that it has sold for $30 and up through other dealers.

Random advice for all of you: DON'T carry your wallet in your back pocket. It is terrible for your back.

Holy crap, you're right. I used to be moderately into leather craft (and have even made a couple pairs of boots) and didn't know this. I always thought the phrase "genuine leather" sounded funny, and I've also noted in passing how things with the stamping always seemed like crap. I think I'll be making my own wallet next time

Thanks for the insight.

Agreed. "Genuine" means nothing. For that price, you know that you're getting cheap goods. If you want leather that's not composite leather you've gotta get a solid leather product.

Leather goods that don't having lining and are a solid cut out of a hide that is tanned properly will give you a wallet that lasts decades, not years. Here's an example: http://www.BuffaloBillfoldCompany.com. They're a ma and pa owned shop that have been handcrafting tough and durable leather goods for over 40 years. They have perfected their tanning recipe over these years and it keeps getting better. Their Money Clip & Card Holder http://buffalobillfoldcompany.com...rd-holder/ is awesome. I've owned it for 10 years and it's wears like a well worn saddle. They've also got some amazing Billfolds & Wallets: http://buffalobillfoldcompany.com...ld-wallet/

Disclaimer: Yes, they're my parents, but that being said, I like to think I've grown up knowing a thing or two about quality leather goods. I've seen their customers return after 30 years deciding to buy a new product not because their old one either finally wore out, or because they were just ready for a change. They make solid products. Check 'em out.

This. It's a really nice wallet, but don't expect to hold all your debit, credit, and reward cards in it. I only have about five cards total on mine, and it's very stuffed.

Hefner413 12-31-2013 05:55 PM

To remove your gift cards and reward cards from your wallet, I highly recommend the Beep'nGo app. You scan your card and take a pic of it. Works great.

Rolf is the luxury brand from Amity leather used to base in West Bend, Wisconsin. I was an employee there for a few months before they went bankrupt in 1997. My USA made real cowhide leather wallet still holding up extremely well after 16 years. I went to the factory and saw how they made the leather products. Not so sure if the quality is still as good as before.

Hey all of the people saying that this person shouldn't blame Tanga are just wrong. He's got every right to be angry. Tanga uses mail innovations to save money on shipping and I had the a same experience with an item from Dell at xmas time. UPS also transfers some Dell packages to Mail innovations and the same thing happened to me. Except I couldn't track it and nobody, not Dell nor UPS could tell me where my package was or when it was coming. When it did finally arrive 4 weeks later, it was a mess. The plastic on the outside of the software box had ripped so it was considered open and I couldn't return it due to their no returns on opened software policy. Needless to say I T'd off on Dell and they gave me a new one, shipped overnight for free, and refunded my money on the first one so I ended up with two copies for free, but that was after disappointing my son on XMAS morning. At least they would have if I didn't go to Walmart on XMAS eve tp buy it for him, so I then had 3 copies the day after XMAS. It took almost a month to get a game delivered. Its the company who sells and ships the item who decides if Mail innovations is used. Its BS. And even if it wasn't MI or UPS in the middle of the problem, its Tanga's responsibility to make sure their customers are getting the items that they buy in a reasonable amount of time. EVen if it is clearly lost in teh mail, Tanga should respond by shipping him or her out a new one the moment it is realized that the package is late or delayed. At least they should if they want to have good customer service. I hate Tanga because of how long it takes to get stuff from them. Its not the time it takes in transit, its the week or more it takes them to ship it. Get off your dead A$$e$ and ship the item that I just paid for if you want me back. Period.

While I agree that the post office has gotten progressively worse over the years, I don't know if UPS or FedEx is the answer. I live in a western suburb of Chicago and have had packages shipped by FedEx "Smart Post" that get a great tour of the Midwest before arriving to me. Packages start off in Mississippi, go to just outside of St. Louis, Missouri before they are driven straight through Illinois to sit at a hub in New Berlin, Wisconsin for the weekend. Then are driven back to my area and handed off to the post office to be held for another day or two before they are delivered. My most recent experience involved a package that started in central Indiana. Moved to another location in Indiana before going straight to New Berlin, Wisconsin for a long weekend. They literally drove the package an extra 250 miles, within 30 miles of its final destination BTW, so it would take an extra 4 days to be delivered. And they have the nerve to call that "Smart Post". :lmao:

Was trolling eBay and came across these Bosca wallets...anyone have one personally? I see them at Nordstrom and they're all like 100 bucks..

check etsy.

I got a handmade wallet in horween chomexcel (a quality leather from a Chicago tannery) for about the same price as the wallet in that eBay auction.

I was able to customize it and order the kind of inner and outer layer that I wanted... none of the listings were quite what I wanted but he was more than willing to do the colors I wanted when I emailed.

I think the name of the shop was One Star Leather or something... but there are many wallet makers. He just had a design I liked.
