ResidentEvil 12-31-2013 05:54 AM

I bought this too, they have really positive reviews on amazon

Anyone know what, if any, functions work on an S3? Reps

EDIT: According to one newegg review they don't work for any Samsung phones

streetmike 12-31-2013 07:51 AM

Thanks. Been looking for a pair since my Thinksound TS-02 were stolen. These fit the price range I wanted to spend. Figured if I don't like them, I could always flip them. Plus the have to sound better then my backup Ink'd ones.

Mrprez37 12-31-2013 07:59 AM

These are great headphones, especially when you put some quality tips on them. I put some complyfoam on mine and I love them.

mrg537 12-31-2013 08:17 AM

Thanks again SD for helping me spending my $$$

Pretty sad that you have to use aftermarket tips on them, lots of fitment issues with these based on Amazon reviews(they're heavy and fall out, especially in the gym)

chubbyninja 12-31-2013 08:26 AM

I bought these last time they came up, and they do not stay in my ears well. I have to wedge them in there to get them to stay

hollowpockets 12-31-2013 08:40 AM

will check these out thanks

Positive reviews? 10% are 1-star reviews and less than 50% 5-star

Arrow34 12-31-2013 09:01 AM

FYI... I got these when they were on clearance at BB, I returned them the next day, one of the worst headphone I have tried, uncomfortable and muddy sounding to me. I was coming from UE700 and Sony MDR-XB30EX(great cheap headphones)

DianaPrince 12-31-2013 09:01 AM

RadioShack clearanced these down to $15 in the summer. I have a pair and the tips that come w/ them leave a lot to be desired. I use them for convo and music listening (sound is really good) but would not recommend for workout unless you get new tips.

Considering how strict some reviewers can be, those stats are pretty good Even a solid device like an iPhone or Galaxy will have a good number of people complaining about something. Overall, 4 stars for a celebrity set (where most people would complain that you're paying for the name), isn't half bad. I just care for good sound, and most reviewers, including PC Mag, give it solid remarks.

I have them for my S4 and not all functions work. The only thing that works is the center button for skipping music or activating S voice. Volume buttons don't work though.

Same problem here it is because these headphone are heavy but I may follow Mrprez37 sugestion of change the tips. About sound quality no complains at all great headphones at for that price is a must, I not sure why did not get more attention from audio community.

Viipottaja 12-31-2013 10:06 AM

Would you actually put something in your ears that has "Ludacris" branding? No matter what the price? :p

I got the mdr-nc33 that are the noise canceling version of MDR-XB30EX and also I have the UE500 (i guess not as good as UE700) but I think the Ludas are not that bad i should admit that Ludas has lot more bass than these headphones (mdr-nc33 are good balanced headphones with great mids and love the UE excellent highs). Maybe just you are not a basshead person, but that does not mean the headphones are bad.

Totally understand that it is my opinion, I just dont think these are good headphones. The fit is horrible and even switching the tips, are a tad too heavy for a IEB. I thinkt he Sony have a good balance and decent bass. I am the first to say I am not a basshead, but I do like bass...

Chun-HoT 12-31-2013 10:34 AM

Sure I respect your opinion, but maybe I know what happens here because something similar happened to me, maybe the problem was you amp or your equalizer. As you mentioned you like bass (as I do) so maybe your hardware (or software) equilizer was set to bass enhanced (that works with your old headphone), in my case I use an amp fiio that has 3 levels of bass, if you were using other headphone settings to improve bass with Ludas that will be just too much, an that is something I always do with new headphones better try first disable bass and set your equalizer to plain or default, low volume and then star changing it to the level you like better. and if you do not like any well yes return it.

sbsoccer 12-31-2013 11:12 AM

Bought the FLY (similar to SL99) as backup for my Klipsch S4A on Black Friday and was really impressed. It's now my primary headphones. Granted it's a little big and heavy but it also sounded big. Gave my S4A to my girlfriend. Btw, I use these for running. It gets loose occasionally but with the price I got and incredible sound, no complains here. Highly recommend at this price!

bgentle106 12-31-2013 11:34 AM

im waiting for the Katy Perry headphones to go on sale they get better reviews.

ONEchance 12-31-2013 11:42 AM

I bought these the last time they were on sale by amazon.

Quick review:
The sound is decent for $25ish earphones. However, these are not that comfortable at all. The earphones are slightly heavy and have a bulging area that press against my ear- my ear begins to feel uncomfortable after about an hour of use. The ear tips suck too. Thin and cheap.

Would i get these again? Probably not.

Mystery123 12-31-2013 11:47 AM

why bad reviews on this?

anorexicwallet 12-31-2013 11:57 AM

I had them and they are heavy as hell and don't stay In your ear. Very annoying. Impossible to use in the gym. Better if you're stationary but still would slip out after a few mins

gephardt 12-31-2013 12:08 PM

I picked up the SL49s the other day for $15.89 shipped.I love the sound. Back up to around $30 now: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/...UTF8&psc=1

Same here but i think there are many people that uses their phones to listen music, personally I prefer a dedicate player with at least wolfson DAC.

sheki 12-31-2013 12:35 PM

If these sound as good as Ludacris, I'll pass.

I feel the same way about them. Not to mention the chord gets ridiculouslyy stiff after a few months of useage. I cant work out with them at all. They fall out too easily and the chord gets caught on everything because it doesnt lay flat on my chest. The sound is good but I prefer my Klipsch s4's over these.

e.chang 12-31-2013 01:27 PM

Must be pretty bad in the stock department that Newegg have to sell these at 70% off.

I can see your point, but no that was not the case. I use a cmoybb amp by jdslabs(my first amp was that same little Fiio too ) and I generally dont mess with the equalizer much. These just didn't do it for me. Just sharing my opinion. I am ALWAYS on the lookout for a cheap good set of headphones... o
What slickdealer isnt:confused: glad these were good for you and others though. To each there own.

S4A is smaller, lighter, sounds good and comfortable. I like SL99 as it sounds just as good with deeper bass.

Looks like you're looking a little too deep into this, I also don't understand how these brands have any ghetto connotations to them.

Anyway, I'll buy a pair. If I don't like them, I'll just give them to a friend. I have great over-ear headphones I always use, but it would be great to have a pair of in-ears for whenever I'm lying down or something.

graymen2 12-31-2013 02:23 PM

So these have a mic and volume adjustment for an iPhone? Sorry didn't look at it to closely.

AznSwag 12-31-2013 02:40 PM

Bought these a couple months ago. Sound great for the price I paid (25 dollars?). But for my pair, the build quality is bad. The speaker grill on the left side, fell out. And the part that shows the soul logo on the right side, fell off. So there's a hole and you see inside the earphones. Luckily, it doesn't change the sound quality or barely changed the sound quality where I even noticed it.

There is a mic but no volume control. There are some playback buttons though.

That does not make sense is like asking to Mr Calvin Klein or Ralph Lauren to hold a degree in agriculture with specialization of growing cotton to make clothing. I mean anyone know brand name is just that a name, what we discuss here if it is a good product or not.

What's a good set of in ear headphones for treadmill jogging? Also, for hooking up to a stereo system I use to watch movies when jogging?

wow who knew you could get ludacris' soul for $30

azianprince 12-31-2013 04:49 PM

I have these with some comply foam tips and they sound much better than my Klipsch S4's with the same tips. Great buy. Though I got it cheaper on Amazon.

Anyone recommend a good in-ear pair of headphones that are good for long hours of studying ~5-6 hours daily. Wanting some that can block out most noise like other students talking in the library; or just chatter at a coffee shop etc..Price range under $100

If the product is good, I wouldn't care if it has your mentor's name (Larry the Cable Guy) on it; I'd buy it. :D  I have a pair of Soul SL100 and the sound quality is definitely pretty good - better than Larry-the-Cable-Guy headphones' SQ.

Not sure who told you the SL99s don't have a volume control for iPhone but the do. I got a pair of these a few weeks ago and really like them with the comply tips.

koidy 01-01-2014 10:13 AM

I have these, paid even less than $30 for them

http://slickdeals.net/f/6427552-amazon-soul-by-ludacris-sl99-high-def-sound-isolation-in-ear-headphones-silver-23-99-f-s-ships-from-and-sold-by-av-house

And, it's not worth the money, you can see my full review on amazon (search for koidy) basically these do not fit and are very uncomfortable they also are huge and feel cheap and plasticy... the box they come in is really nice though and the sound is pretty good, though a little bass heavy. If i could return them i would.

ResidentEvil 01-13-2014 07:45 AM

I returned these, the bass was seriously not as good as advertised, the headphones were heavy, the tips that the came with sucked and were irritating, and i found the quality to be sub-par. Not even close to as good as my $30 phillips headphones. I will look elsewhere for a decent pair of earbuds.
