Fry's has a Vizio 60 LED 120Hz REFURB smart TV for $599 and a 70" for $997

http://www.frys.com/product/79894...IN_RSLT_PG
http://www.frys.com/product/80335...IN_RSLT_PG

The website says free shipping..however the price is different than the link to the print ad I posted above

Free shipping at the ad prices and no sales tax would be a slick deal for this size TV

kingfisher1111 07-04-2014 05:51 AM

Can I order the 70 inch tv and get a price match from frys customer service for $300 difference?

Prices stated above are for instore pickup only, online says $799 and $1297 with free shipping.

FYI... No sales tax applies to 4K TVs only, not regular one's.

Highly YMMV.

that was my point in the original post

If you call and order and say you have the ad you "might" be able to take the free shipping

sales tax would not apply in a state that does not have a Frys..if the product was delivered on any TV

a 4K TV would be exempt from tax on even an in store purchase

kingfisher1111 07-04-2014 06:43 AM

Got my order for $997 after calling the customer and free delivery and no tax!!

rickditt87 07-04-2014 07:20 AM

Just got the 60" for $599.00 after calling customer service. I was just going to cancel my order, but the girl said "No the price is actually $599.00 and we're working on adjusting that, but I can fix it for you." So of course I said yes. :D

kingfisher1111 07-04-2014 07:42 AM

What's the best way to get warranty for this item? Squaretrade won't honor refurbished items.

randy0211 07-04-2014 07:47 AM

Just got one, I normally leave my TV on for about 2-3 weeks, I read somewhere if something is going to break it will most likely happen withing that time frame.......

kingfisher1111 07-04-2014 08:46 AM

Now in-store prices reflect online prices.

ben7337 07-04-2014 08:59 AM

Not a bad price, but I'd be a bit concerned about the 70" model as a refurb, they are known to have an issue which causes bright spots all over the tv, and which gets worse over time. It's commonly discussed on avsforum, and I can say I have a tv with just that issue. It's getting replaced, but no guarantee it won't have the same issues, and I am willing to bet most of the refurb tvs are these defective tvs. Since they can't repair the panel, they likely just send it through a basic inspection and call it good. If someone inspected my tv quickly, they wouldn't notice anything wrong with it, it's only with a careful eye on the right screen or background that you can see the issue.

EnsaynePenguin 07-04-2014 09:40 AM

I got the 60" TV on Pre-Black Friday at Sam's Club a couple of years ago. Overall the TV is great for the living room. I tuned it with settings from AVSforum.com

AVSFORUM
http://www.avsforum.com/forum/166...hites.html

CNET
http://forums.cnet.com/7723-19410...-settings/

The VIA interface feels a little cumbersome to me, but I can still stream Pandora, Netflix, and Hulu through it no problem. Have a WD TV Live to play all my videos.

I did encounter an issue about 5 months in where the picture went out due to a chip. It was a known issue, and they sent some guys with a new one, hooked it up, and hauled away the bad one. No problems over 1 year later.

Read more about the issue here: https://answers.vizio.com/hc/en-u...l-bulletin

It only affected some serial numbers, so if yours isn't listed, you should be in the clear.

If you bought it with an Amex..or certain other cards they will double the manufacturer warranty...Visa Signature cards will double as well
You can also typically buy additional coverage cheaply through your CC company as well

I would suspect they replace the panel...based on the condition you described, and then resell it as a refurb

If it wasn't for the fact that the issue is hard to notice depending on how they test the panels, the fact that tons of people have reported replacement tvs having the exact same issue, and the fact that it gets worse and more noticeable over time, I'd say go for it.

The 60" panels don't have that issue reported, but the 70" ones do, and it is quite common.

can you clarify on how one may buy additional coverage through CC company? by calling CC customer service?

I just called customer service. They advised there was no shipping these TV's and they must be picked up in store.

I see that now - but they did process my order via phone before the online price change. Now I'll have to wait to see if they cancel it,

Here was my info on this:

Amazon reviews (4/5 stars, 872 reviews)

http://www.amazon.com/VIZIO-E601i...ewpoints=1

CNet Review

I checked a home theater site review and it was really good- Amazon reviews are decent as well. For $647 after tax (and a 2.4 mile drive to Fry's), I bit.

Replacing a 4-5yo 42" Vizio LCD...hopefully it'll be a big difference. :P

SamTheChapu 07-04-2014 01:47 PM

how about frys extended warranty. ..does anyone know how much will it cost and if its good for this tv (I know they can replace a good model tv with inferior one but this is on the lower end anyways)?

hmm do you think they'll let you open it and check it before buying it or even after buying it? No point in taking the whole thing home and then finding a smudge.

I don't know. It probably takes about the same amount of time to get home as it does to unpack it -- fortunately I have a Fry's right down the street.

its an added benefit from your credit card company

Its comes with American express cards and select Visa cards as well

generally speaking the credit card company will double the manufacturer warranty of the item up to one year. This is typically good for any item that an original manufacturer warranty of 3 years of less

The item must be 100% paid for with the credit card

additionally...they typically allow you to purchase additional coverage depending on the item and its original cost

90 day manufacturer warranty

Amex will double the manufacturer warranty....so you would have180 days of warranty total

Buy it and go back the next day to customer service and say you thought about it and don't want the extended warranty. get refund.

RBA 07-04-2014 07:24 PM

I have a 50 inch Samsung Plasma with a thin vertical line it. With the line in the tv, I like my plasma picture better than these Vizio refurbs. So I won't bite on this. Maybe the extra inches reveal more flaws. I will just put up with the line in the plasma for now. Nice tv for the price however.

I checked my Chase card and it looks like they do a 1yr warranty regardless of manufacturer.

Lol. We never had any rule where a customer *had* to buy a warranty with a floor model purchase. They're going to drop the price of the TV and then make up the lost profit with the PSC (warranty). Get at least 20% off on the TV, take the warranty, and then return it the next day if you want. Just don't wait too long, or it'll affect the salesperson's paycheck and they'll have to make it up on the draw system (which is super annoying to start your week on a negative already). Great, I just got to work? I owe the store -$50 already. But if you buy it and return it quickly enough, it'll post on the same pay period and won't affect him terribly.

That wasn't the issue. They're only going to double the manufacturer's warranty, up to one year. You have 90 days here, so your Chase card will double that 180 days total.

I just called Vizio and they do extend the warranty on refurbished but the problem is frys electronics is red flagged and not a authorized reseller. He said "they don't use genuine parts"... I might just cancel my order. I ordered a 60 and 70 inch.

Lol wut? Fry's doesn't refurbish products. We get them straight from the manufacturer and sell as is. You should've seen the piles and piles of HP refurbs we used to sell. All backed by a 90 day HP warranty for refurbished products.

but is it really wise to buy a floor model. They keep those TV's on all day every day. I would say that TV probably has about 1000-2000 hours in just being displayed to people.

Also, one guy said they were going to get some more refurbs in 7-10 days and another guy said they aren't going to get them. Who should I believe? lol. The second guy showed me his inventory and estimated arrival of new shipment showed "No Data" on the screen.

DouglasD5928 07-04-2014 11:13 PM

I wouldn't mind buying a floor model that was significantly discounted and NEW as opposed to a refurb. That being said, there really is no way of knowing why it was a refurb, so it might've just been a standard customer return with very minimal hours usage (except for the time it was on the floor--and if it's a refurb, then they don't stock it for too long).

Can't tell you whom to believe re inventory. I'd have to see the screen to really know. Usually, refurbs came in one or two batches and they were blown out as soon as possible. They typically paid the most commission, were cheap, and easy to attach warranties with.

based on the longevity of a TV ....100K hours...you should be good to go

Even if it only gets to 50K hours before it dies that is that is 27 years at 5 hours a day

a bird in the hand is worth something
So..I say ask for a discount and buy now if its not already too late

Try calling yourself. Vizio do extend their refurbished, you just have have to but from an authorized retailer. I am just passing along what was told to me. It is still unclear who is baking this 90 warranty. I will try calling Frys again.

alexwbush 07-05-2014 07:02 AM

to buy the 60" or wait for something better this fall... hmm. I've got an old 52" Samsung LCD that I've had for about 6 years and the wife is complaining that it sticks off the wall too much.

I dont need the Tv...I just posted it because I thought it was a good deal

I assume you called fry's
I am pretty sure they are authorized to sell refurbs

That being said...the way I read it is 90 day warranty though Vizio
I dont assume there will be anymore than 90 days

if you are interested in the TV
1. hopefully you were not counting on the free shipping as it in store only now
2. the ad when they run out they are out....so the clock is ticking while they still have inventory. Make sure you understand that
They are already out of the 70" in my area

Just called them. No extended warranty if buying online. Only warranty available if you purchase from stores. That's weird

that is odd

well..if you want the warranty then hopefully you used a credit card that will double your 90 day factory warranty and allow you to buy additional, if desired

I am not sure if Squaretrade will cover a refurb TV...or there might be a waiting period involved if they do before you can file a claim

I used Amex. Amex can double it and it will be only 180 days since this TV comes with 90 days warranty.

yes....up to 5 years on most electronics....4 years on computers

price is generally about 10% more than Square Trade

jackass124 07-07-2014 07:54 PM

doesnt anyone worry about all these millions of Vizio refurbs?? I had a 32" die...i'd like to go for one of these, but, reading the reviews, they seem to have major problems 2 years down the road, if not earlier

You see how busy that Walmart refurb Vizio thread is

people keep buying them even though the vast majority seem to arrive in pieces

Anyone got quote from Vizio regarding warranty?

Vizio says Frys is not authorized reseller of vizio's products and they can't offer extended warranty.

Same case here. Called Vizio and they told FRYS is in the blacklist. Anyone here got warranty from Frys or Vizio? Randy, You got your tv shipped or cancelled the order? What about warranty?
