Just got this from AVG:

Thank you for your recent purchase of AVG software and participating in our rebate program. It has come to our attention, that the third party rebate processing company that was responsible for processing rebate claims and issuing mail-in-rebate checks for AVG products (along with many other products of a number of other companies) filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy petition on November 14, 2008. The funds provided to them by AVG (and other companies) apparently are no longer available to satisfy the rebate checks such company issued on behalf of AVG and other companies.

If you recently received a rebate check from AVG, you should not attempt to cash the rebate check, as it likely will bounce. We apologize for any inconvenience, delay or confusion this may cause. Accordingly, we request that any affected customers take the following actions:

1. If you are holding or receive a rebate check for AVG which is dated on or before November 14, 2008, please do not cash the check, as it may bounce.

2. A new check will be sent to you within the next 3 weeks regardless if you have cashed the first check or not. This new check is good and may be cashed or deposited with no problem.

3. If you have already cashed a rebate check and the check bounced, AVG will reimburse you for any bank fees you may incur. In order to receive bank fee reimbursement, please mail a copy of the cancelled check along with proof of the bank fees you had to pay. AVG will issue a reimbursement check within 3 weeks of receipt. Mail to: AVG Technologies USA Inc., Attention: rebate department, 380 S. State Road 434, Suite 1004, #263, Altamonte Springs, FL 32714

4. If you have already cashed a rebate check and received the rebate funds, there is no further action you need to take.

Again, we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience. Please be assured that we value your business and remain committed to ensuring that you receive your refund as soon as possible, and we hope you will continue to have full confidence in AVG.
