Update 1:

One of the area affected is Pittsburgh, PA.

In 2008, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette had RP insert circulation of 599 and no mention of targeted mail.

In 2009, starting from Feb 1, RP insert circulation from Pittsburgh Post-Gazette is discontinued and targeted mail (870) is started which means users there will receive their RP insert in their mail.

Update 2 :

Another example is Norfolk, VA.

Virginian pilot was included in RP insert circulation (374) in 2008, Now in 2009, Virginian pilot is removed from list and Targeted mail is started.

Update 3:

One of the user at other site email them and expressed her displeasure about this. Here is reply from RP customer rep. Thanks Ralphey.

Thank you for your e-mail. Recently, you visited our Web site and submitted an inquiry regarding the RedPlum package in your newspaper. We appreciate your feedback.

You inquired as to why your coupons would no longer be included with your newspaper. The decision to go to mailbox delivery was made with many factors in mind, including the efficient handling and delivery of our advertising offerings to your mailbox. Working with the U.S. Postal Service, who provides universal mail delivery six days per week, free to recipient households and businesses, this new approach to mailing our offerings will keep delivery cost down - for all of us.

Besides the delivery method change, you might also have noticed that last year we replaced our well-known "Have You Seen Me?" postcard featuring pictures of missing children with new, more vibrant 4-color images that are now right next to the postal information on our package. Since we launched this new look in May 2007, we have been able to recover 3 more children, growing the total number of recovered children to 148 as a direct result of our weekly mailings. It is individuals like you, who closely read their mail and take a moment to notice the pictures of children who are responsible for the safe recovery of these children.

Thank you for taking the time to contact us, Carleen
