LEGO Direct Consumer Services is now stating "We just got an update on this item last night, Dennis, and we anticipate Set #21102 LEGO Minecraft will be returning. We have forecasted and ordered enough to last us through the holiday this year
Reviews of this set.
Note, it is 480 pieces of VERY SMALL pieces. Looked at the attached picture to see how small the box is. There is pretty much no unique pieces from this set and that's why the reviewer said this set is not for LEGO hardcore since you can easily build your own with existing Lego. $42 for 480 with VERY SMALL pieces and pretty much no unique pieces (plus no minfigs, no buildings, no vehicles) are pretty expensive price per piece.
If you're a Minecraft fan: Buy it -- it appears to be much better than a lot of the other Minecraft merchandise out there.
If you are on a tight LEGO budget: Use this as inspiration to build something similar from your own parts and spend the $35 on a regular LEGO set.
If you're a collector: Buy it now to save heartache later when trying to complete your Cuusoo collection.
Note, this price is FULL retail price + extra 20% for shipping!!
Go into the Lego store and they will place your order and put in a promo code to give you FREE shipping. So it saves you $7. I was in and out in 5 minutes. The employees didnt even know that this was for sale again! -credit goes to martyMVPturco
Understood - but Lego itself is going to be pumping these out. They know the huge demand of this item, and it was SUPPOSED to be just a limited first run in the beginning of this year. But due to the demand (ie almost immediate sell-out), they said they are surely making enough to satisfy complete holiday demand. You'll notice that Amazon, TRU, Walmart, etc - all got stock last week and this week - but Lego.com did not until now. That's because they were waiting and waiting and building up their inventory. Like I said, I expect Lego.com to stock tens of thousands, and all these folks buying these up right now are doing it to resell (well, at least most). So I expect the market to be flooded on these for quite some time on the resell market. Of course, if 100,000 people decide they want this for Christmas, that's another story. But this is by no means a "gimme" in terms of holiday profit at the moment - only if Lego.com had sold out within an hour or so, but they have so many .... It's been now 7 hours since the stock first hit Lego.com and they still aren't out.
You guys are all wrong - think about it. Lego.com just stocked a TON of these (probably tens of thousands). As others have noted, Amazon and TRU recently got stock, and sold out within MINUTES. These companies don't get little 100 stock bursts. So think of the amount lego.com is now selling. Keep in mind the lego.com site has slowed to a crawl simply because of MINECRAFT. And 99% of these people are reselling. You'll see Minecraft hit $50 on Ebay next week, with no profit (well, maybe $2-$3 for top sellers). These are NOT going to go for $100 on Ebay (heck right now they are going for $80, NOT $100).
Yeah, I ordered some when this thread hit to resell, expecting Lego to go out of stock within an hour. Hasn't happened. Market is going to be flooded really, really quick. Come back to this thread in 1-2 weeks and see.
Here is confirmation from LEGO corporate:
"Update: Tim from Cuusoo has stated in the comments "Actually, the message Dennis received is inaccurate. We knew the LEGO Minecraft Micro World would be popular, and though we are temporarily sold out at LEGO Direct, more than 10,000 have been made, and we are planning to meet demand on this item throughout the year."
Update 2: LEGO Direct Consumer Services is now stating "We just got an update on this item last night, Dennis, and we anticipate Set #21102 LEGO Minecraft will be returning. We have forecasted and ordered enough to last us through the holiday this year. We are temporarily out of stock but anticipate replenishment in the future."
