If you better half thinks your current camera is to "chunky", then the RX100 is the camera for you. It's not even a compromise. It's thin enough for him, yet has all the controls and IQ that you want to take better pictures. Seriously, if you are just going to use a kit lens on a DSLR, a RX100 will serve you just as well.
