Nice that it's touchscreen, and nice that it's got great screen resolution. But I need better performance--more RAM, more HD. Costco has a nice alternative for people who care about those kinds of specs, and it runs on Windows 7, so you can decide whether and when to "upgrade" (get stuck with) Windows 8. http://slickdeals.net/f/5494422-Lenovo-U410-14-Ultrabook-3rd-gen-i5-8GB-memory-750GB-HD-24GB-possibly-32GB-SSD-HD-for-700-tax-at-Costco-com-starting-Nov-19-Online-only?p=54755962#post54755962
The ThinkPad is the superior machine. It's a premium brand that's durable, upgradeable, and highly repairable. Ram is cheap. I'd buy the ThinkPad and replace the Ram and still be getting a better deal.

And Windows 8 is nice with Start8 or Classic Start installed. Once you bypass the metro screen you have a really zippy OS.
