The item you mention is the first one I mentioned.. no cable is necessary... but that one is the expensive dock (>$150)
Does it make sense to have thunderbolt over USB 3.0 since I am not use the drive will be fast enough to get better performance on thunderbolt v. USB 3.0. How fast can the transfer speeds be compared to the cables and technology that transfers them? Any good resources that answer this question? Hopefully I am making sense.
I don't think there is much benefit for thunderbolt for this drive in particular, except that it will probably run as smooth as if it were connected internally to your PC. If you were connecting a fast SSD through thunderbolt, then yes, there might be more of a speed difference.
