With the advent of HDMI, does it even make sense to use these to split the Audio. Any proven better performance by splitting the Audio to Toslink/Optical and using HDMI for Video purposes only??
Given most of the newer receivers have only 2 Optical inputs and how will HDMI switching even work when Audio is split?
These cables are relevant in at least some situations. I don't have cable, just the OTA HDTV antenna. My TV does not support ARC while the receiver does. I will use the TV's optical output to listen to audio through my receiver, rather than the TV speakers.
