I got rid of this lens and got 70-300L considering my application and use of this lens is purely outdoors for kids activities.
70-300L is amazingly impressive lens in a small package which wont break your neck and carrying around 70-300L with 5D Mk III with kids is something I can do easily when compared to 70-200 f/2.8L IS II.
Definitely agree with you there. The 70-300L is a very well-behaved and versatile tube of glass in a smallish bundle in an outdoor environment. It took some major soul-searching for me to send it for appraisal and I'm still not sure if I'm ready to part with it yet. Guess it will depend on what Adorama offers me. The main reason I sent it was to help finance my unrestrained lens shopping spree during the 20% sale.
I was thinking about trying out the 70-300 non-L or the 70-300 DO to see if I liked them, given their higher degree of compactness (sans the laudable build qualities of the L version).
