Can someone please confirm for me that if you have 2 thermostats you need two Nests? Or is there a way to link up activities between thermostats somehow?
I've been thinking about the Nest since it was originally announced, but on the fence because a) I don't pay for heating/cooling at my apartment and b) I have two thermostats - one for one bedroom + living and one for one bedroom + dining.
Despite the first point making my ROI almost non-existent, I'd still be willing to do it for the green factor... but I don't know if I'm willing to pay nearly $400 if I'm going to need to replace both thermostats.
You don't NEED two unless you want them to work together. 1 Nest will work fine if that's what you want. It will in no way be able to control the other one.
I would try to ask your landlord to do the upgrade!
