What is worse to throw in a landfill: a ccfl backlit TV or a Toyota Prius?
Not sure if you're just making a joke or asking a real question here.
The Prius battery disposal issues and "worse than a Hummer" studies have been widely debunked.
The batteries are recycles of just like any other NiCd batteries. They don't cause any significant damage to the environment. (Assuming of course, you actually take them to Toyota to have it recycled and don't just dump the batteries in a landfill.)
CCFL disposal is unfortunately not quite so simple.
