I got 2. First two tablets, one for me one for the wife. Yes there is a new model coming out. The world has been telling me 1080p doesnt matter for screen sizes smaller than 42-46". Now I am supposed to care that a 7" tablet that is the best in its class is getting some minor upgrades and will probably cost $75-100 more than this deal. A faster processor? So instead of waiting .5 seconds I will now be waiting .4 seconds. If people were telling me the new nexus had a micro sd port or hdmi out or addressed the very few areas that this tablet could approve upon then maybe I'd be interested, but a better screen and faster processor probably won't even be noticed.
I also picked up two of the $6 cases that were on yesterday's front page deal.
Buydig sold 750 of these tablets last time at this price.
Let me start by saying that I love the N7. We've got 3 in our house and I use a N4 for my primary phone. That said, I'll just point out a few things.
1. The discussion of 720p vs 1080p was really started back in the early days of 1080p with sets in the 27"-32" screen size. It is very true that at 10' you wouldn't notice any difference. However, as you get bigger OR if you sit much closer the differences become very noticeable. With a 7" tablet you will absolutely notice a difference when holding the device a few feet from your face. Whether it's a deal breaker or not is up to you but the extra resolution will be significant.
2. The N7 is pretty quick but it definitely could use a boost in horse power. Most tasks are pretty quick but common things like screen rotation often take a couple of seconds. When compared to my N4 I notice a pretty big difference. The problem is that the difference will be magnified over time as more apps become more demanding as hardware specs for Android improve.
At the end of the day this is still a great tablet. For the price it's the best dollar for dollar option there. I am, however, looking forward to seeing what Google does next.
