so there is an actual drive which is used as cache? which can be replaced with a real one at some point in a future
The chips used as the cache are built into the drive itself, next to the actual HDD.
You can replace with a real SSD if you like, but you'll be replacing the entire drive along with it. (The 750GB HDD that is.)
***This info is wrong. This isn't a hybrid SSD, rather an Expresscache drive.
