Actually not correct on all counts at all. Enameled cast iron that is made in China is inferior to French made because it only has 1 layer of enamel as opposed to 2 and they have not been making it as long and therefore probably do not have as good of a manufacturing process as a company that has been making these since 1924.
I bought one of these 2 months ago at costco for $80 I believe and I think it is a Staub - which although is not as popular as Le Creuset, is almost on par in performance/durability. If you can handle the weight of this thing (very heavy) and the 8 qt size works, $50 is an absolute steal.
My guess is still Fonignac though they are owned by Staub so pretty much the same thing.
