Well, Sennheiser (as a general rule) are known for being balanced and neutral. Music comes through the way it was recorded. My Favorite headphones that I've owned so far are the HD 428 and the Koss KSC-75. Both known for decent and TRUE sound reproduction.

So, I am not very interested in "bass effects" or rump shaking beats, I just want the bass, bass drum an deep vocals to come through properly..

Thanks for answering too!

Do you find the Superlux good for rock?
Yes I like them for rock. I just noticed the 428's are closed whereas these are semi open so if you do not have open or semi-open phones I would absolutely buy these just for the really nice soundstage.

The bass on these is there but does not blow everything else away, which we both seem to want.

I would describe these as slightly warm, so not neutral.
