Nearly any notebook with a DisplayPort will be able to output a 2560x1440 desktop, not many will be able to play games at the resolution outside of the high powered, not so portable, desktop replacement models. A notebook with a DualLink DVI output should drive the display as well, but those are even more rare.
I own this monitor and its been great outside of a couple minor issues (crosshatching and excessive noise when adjusting the height, tilt, etc). I don't play more than a few hours of games a month, but with my old GTX 580 the resolution quickly limiting the card in most games. I've since switched to a GTX 780 which is able to handle the resolution much better, albeit not perfect. For Office, web browsing, and other productivity apps, the extra screen real estate is incredible.
I haven't seen laptops other than Macbooks having displayport?
