When I read about the details behind the Target hack, it really got me thinking about the Rakuten breach again. The Target hack is basically the idea that all encoded stuff gets decoded when inside the computer's memory. All a person needed to do is get that Russian-made little windows utility onto the right computers inside the corporate computers that handle customer credit cards. I'd put money on it that that little utility found its way onto those Rakuten windows PCs in order processing. If it wasn't that, I'd start to believe what may have already speculated - a malicious insider.
