I am very happy with the display model. It look brand new.I got it for $720 AFTER taxes ($670 before I think.
You get same warranty as new unit and you can buy extended warranty as well.

The D85UN, SB57, and E77 share the same firmware file. That says they are nearly identical from a functionality point of view and from a build point of view. I'm willing to bet that the SB57 is an Aquos guts with a different chasis. Manufacturers do this to get economies of scales. Looking at the spec differences posted on Sharp's website shows that there is minimal difference between these sets. The SB57 has some items blank. This doesn't mean it's not the same. It means Sharp chooses not to disclose it to make the more expensive models appear better.
Companies like Wal-Mart, Costco, Sams, etc... want to sell the same name brands to the public. They also want exclusive models. Manufacturers respond by modifying shells (different materials, finishes, coatings, etc) and thus model numbers and they get to protect their upper name brands. Inside they are identical. This also prevents price matching and thus they can each claim lower prices. It's done with PCs all the time. Compare specs. If it smells like an Aquos, walks like an Aquos, and talks like an Aquos..... Sharp makes it's money from the AQ line, but it needs the mass market volumes to keep costs down. WM makes money from volume. It's a win-win for both. |

I would go online to the TVs section of WalMart's website and search the the stores in your area and then start calling the ones that still have it in stock. If it shows up as in stock but they say they are out of the tv, they probably still have the display model up. |

G-TEX I had the exact same experience. The associate bluntly refused to sell a store display even at the online price, let alone getting a 20% discount on top of that. The guy had this "theory" that Walmart does not match store prices with online prices.....weird...I then asked to speak to a Manager who was not helpful either. Basically the recorded message I heard was that Walmart store policy does not allow to match their own online prices. I tried to reason with them that this was not an online only deal and it says clearly on the website "find it in store" but I was speaking to deaf ears
![]() I remember a Walmart Electronics employee who is active in this forum. Is there a way to escalate this? |

As for changing this feature without the remote, I did not see an option on the TV itself or in the OSD menu. |

Use the store inventory search which they update every morning around 10am. I was able to that this morning and snagged one at lunch time, although I dont know when the sales price will end. The display model with price tag still shows regular price, but when they scan it will scan at sales price $898. My search is finally over.....

Is the setting permanent once you change it to "dot by dot" or do you have to adjust the view mode often? |

Picked 1 up today in DeRidder,LA. Still had 5 + in the back in boxes. Sales personnel didn't seem to know they are still on sale. Had 1 one display and when I first asked if they had any left in the box, he said no. When I asked if he would sell me the display, made some statement about he could only do thatif they had no morecoming in. When he scanned the display, he suddenly realized he was looking at the wrong one. Then stated he had a "butt load" of these left in the back. Only place I found one within 250 miles that wasn't OOS. $978 after taxes....will play with it for 90 days and if I don't like it, back it goes, but I think that going from a 32" tube to a 52" LCD...I'll keep it

Got mine 2 days ago, on lunch, Thank you OP. Went to 3 different walmarts, and last one was BINGO. I had the walmart guys lift it into the car, and they dropped it! I still took it home, and at midnight hooked it up. I was expecting disaster...but everything fired up perfectly. Then my dog ran right into it! Head first. Still no damage. I need to get this thing wall mounted ASAP, behind plexiglass before I break the damn thing!!!
GREAT DEAL. |
