Hello I have a client who wants to restrict their employees down to a select few websites related to work. What would be the best way to do that? The employees aren't exactly tech savvy but they do use both firefox and internet explorer. 3 store locations, 1 computer each location.
I have found lots of software that blocks select websites but not ones that only allow select websites. Thanks for your help! |

how about a router? I'm guessing since this is only 3 computers, then a basic dd-wrt router would be able to handle it.

I think this is the best option. Once in your account..just choose "Custom" and select every single category. Then click apply, and then add the domains you want in the "Always Allow" area. I'm not sure if it blocks the ENTIRE internet..but I think at least 90% of it

easiest would be a router that supports "whitelisting"..
here's an example config page for a d-link DIR-655 [newegg.com] that shows the settings: http://support.dlink.com/Emulator...ilter.html choose 'allow only' in the pulldown, punch in the domains, save... a little testing is in order, as many pages pull content from multiple domains.

disable DNS and just have a static hosts file. Won't stop people sticking an IP address in, but neither will opendns
