Anyone here ever had Saranac IIPA? Pretty frickin good. Especially for $8 a six pack.
So, I have found my 2 favorite sub $10 six packs. They are: 1) Lagunitas Maximus 2) Saranac IIPA |

I haven't gone bottle shopping in months. I still can't help going to the bar every now & then though. Sometimes having a beer on tap is cheaper then buying a $18 bottle of it. Most of my special stuff in the basement is gone, but I've still got several cases I plan on attacking in between the holidays.

Plus don't forget that this comes from the same brewery that makes most of the brooklyn stuff. |

Yardhouse just opened a franchise in San Antonio. Went there for the first time tonight. I give it a D. Service was good but the place boasts about having 102 taps, but it is damn near all macro type stuff. Not really a huge problem, however, the prices are just plain unreasonable. $13.50 for a half yard of Newcastle. This is 32 Oz. SO....$7.50 a pint for Newcastle? $6.50 for the pint of Green Flash IPA that the wife had. $11.75 for a Bacon Cheeseburger and ~$9 for garlic pasta.
With quality joints in town like The Flying Saucer, Freetail and Tap Exchange, I cannot force my self back to this place. Just sayin..... Rant over...

Yeah....she has really embraced my beer addiction. Loose Cannon was her gateway (i know, that is impressive). Now, the 'pinyer' the better. I am working on getting her to try some stouts/portes next. Barley wines are kinda sorta acting as a gateway for that.
BUT seriously....that place blows. Everything needs to come down about 30% in there to be even reasonable in my book. Not sure how many of the beer folks around here have a Flying Saucer nearby, but the 'Luxe Cheeseburger' with Cotswald Cheddar is by far the best burger I have ever had outside of my kitchen. Extremely consistent too. Plus the beer selection at YH is not even in the ballpark. Then again, it is in La Cantera, a pretty swanky part of town. |
