I read several pages of posts here and flyertalk. Haven't seen anyone with our problem. I applied several days ago. Called the automative approval line and it gave me the 2 week by mail line. I called the next day and it said it the information (ss#) does not match any record. I called and they had no proof that I applied. They told me to reapply and I did. Now it is saying the same thing--information does not match any record. WTF?

How long is your credit history? Have you double checked the SSN you're entering?

Yes, I am sure the correct ss# was submitted. I am extremely careful about things like that. I thought I might have screwed up when I submitted the first time, but was sure when I resubmitted the app the second time. Both my husband and myself had the same thing happen. We both have extremely good credit. When I apply for cards, I get 30k plus.

Then probably the agency Chase is using has incorrect data for you. Have you ever checked all three agencies with annualcreditreport.com?

Can you book the flight on a partner airline? I am trying to go from RDU to MBJ June 19, 2010 for a week. AA has tons of flights available (through AA.com), but BA has none (through britishairways.com).

I applied 5 days ago and today received email stating welcome to BA executive club and second email with club PIN. Does it mean I'm approved by Chase? Status on toll free is still pending and my Chase online account doesn't this account yet.

Got approved (checked via phone...800# worked). Just signed up the missus, too.

I'm going to use the card to purchase our "non-durable" goods for a couple of months - got a trip to Disney coming, various Christmas gifts, gas, etc. Will use the sapphire for anything durable to get the free extra warranty and return privileges, especially since this card will be toast before I pay the annual fee next winter.

I'd worry about my credit rating, but (1) I don't need credit and (2) I've got points to burn (at last check I was a bit north of 800).

Applied on 11/17 and found out that they goofed up my first name. Was entered automatically through my BA account (applied through an email from BA). Anyhow, they mentioned on Friday that some investigation is pending but they could not tell me why and what, I should call again next week. \
Today I tell myself, let's just try calling the automated line again..Voila, approved for 25k. My credit history is a little bit over 3 years only and I already have a card with Chase (the one they gave me when I tried to get this BA card 3 years ago). with really low cl (under 4k). Guess you never know what you get. As a previous poster, insurance and registration are coming up for 2 cars, the 2k will be easy.
For all of those that are bumped out about the fees. Don't use the points for a free ticket (unless you want to get a business class free ticket)...use them to upgrade. My wife has this card for a couple years by now and we ususally go to Europe once a year, haven't flown coach since we got the card. Upgrades are 25k roundtrip only
