Can Apple Laptop RAM be Used in a PC Laptop?

Can I use RAM made for Apple laptops in a laptop that origianlly came with Vista on it.
BTW I intend to use Ubuntu.

The RAM seems to have the same specs except perhaps Apple RAM is fully buffered and PC RAM is unbuffered.

    Thanks

Yes, long as both laptops take the same kind of memory.

Yup, I've done it before in the past. As long as it's the same spec (DDR2, DDR3, whatever) it'll work in either machine.

My laptop is an Everex NC1502.
It doesn't stipulate Buffered or Unbuffered in the manual.
    It uses a Via CPU.

OP, your memory is DDR2 memory. DDR2 memory is DDR2 memory. It can be used in any computer that uses DDR2 memory. The answer to your question is yes.

As an aside, that is some majorly overpriced memory.

    Not really.
Some have to be compatible with the OS.
    For windows, anything is compatible.
MACs are picky as hell though.

IIRC...before the switch to intel boards...you had to get ecc ram, non-ecc would not work, and thus you paid more for 9 chips per stick then 8 sticks per non-ecc sticks.

9th was used for parity checking.

Since they were sold less often and had a higher wholesale cost, they'd be a lot more then other memory.

yeah but MACs are still picky.
Heck, even the memories from the unibody mac, DDR3, are not fully compatible with the new unibody macbook pros. No idea why. And memory isn't faulty either(only happens to aftermarket RAM)

Not really. I just complain to the manufacturer until they send me a tested version. Then, I sell my RAM that came with my mac on craigslist for almost the same price apple charges and the upgraded memory pays for itself.
Just pointing out macs are picky. And it always happens after an OSX update release

I've read in various forums where some say it's the same and some say if your laptop uses unbuffered, you cannot use buffered. I Googled RAM specs and read someplace that buffered RAM wont work in a system that comes with unbuffered RAM. That's why I was confused.

    You think it's over priced?
It was $40 or $50 after rebate when it was in-stock. Most places I've seen wanted @ $50 for 2GB. This deal was for 4GB. Can you point me to a RAM deal?

Thanks and thank you for everyone's help/wisdom.
