My sister was in a similar situation; she had purchased something by mistake that did not qualify for a rebate. So I told her that since, she could not get cash back her best option was an exchange; I said you have a certain time period to exchange the products we buy. Wait until you have enough of the next sale's rebate items to cover the exchange then exchange them for the item(s) you are returning. When we got to the store, we explained that we had purchased a non-qualifying item with her GOS, that the offer was over, and that we wanted to exchange the item(s) for something else. They always say ok at my Rite Aid when I exchange items that do not qualify for the rebate. They know that is the only reason that I come there to buy all that stuff in the first place,

Your stores aren't following policy. For an exchange in said situation, it should be no problem whatsoever. Yes, getting a cash refund when your OOP is very low is another story.

Back to RA today for more razors, they would only let me get one, the girl who was helping me in the razor section told me "sorry I can only give you one that's the limit". She then said "hey I am going to get one for myself that's a good deal". So she got one for me and one for herself.
So here's what I got, I hope these rebates still work, online it says these rebates expired 11-26 but the ad says 11-26 thru 11-28.

1 Herbal Essence shampoo 2.50 used 1.00 mfr q
1 Secret d.o. 2.49 used .50 mfr q

1 rite-aid soap 2.39 used RA skin care q
1 razor 1.99 used 2.00 mfr q
2 15 oz. cokes 2.98 used 2 free mfr q's from mcr

my total must havebeen 13 something before q's, but I thought it said 15 something, I did not have my reading glasses on. So I gave her my 3 off 15, she took it and it scanned.
so after all q's my total was a dollar and some change.
So even if my rebates dodn't clear , I am only out a little bit and my receipt still counts toward GOS.

Barcode starts with a 9, that's the reason for the beep. Most grocery stores will recognize a barcode that starts with a 9; it means 'do not double.' But registers at stores that normally don't double q's don't recognize barcodes that start with a 9. It's not a normal beep either, it's a beep-beep-beep-beep. My cashier just entered them manually.

I did this transaction 3 times to qualify for the Planter's SCR (spend $15, get $5):

7 SH lip $6.93 - 7 $1/1 SH
1 Dulcolax $6.99 - $3 hangtag - $4 RAQ
1 21 oz. Planter's deluxe mixed nuts $5.88
Used $5/20, paid $1.05 including tax

You could substitute razors for the SH. One store by me was OOS on razors but loaded with SH; the other one was OOS on SH but loaded with razors.

Is that even legal for RA to do? If they sell something that is expired, or can cause bodily harm, I don't think they can get away from not giving your money back. I would have a field day in court if that happens to me.
