I received an email from MicroCenter about a Pre Black Friday sale this saturday and sunday. The Acer - eMachines eME627-5082 will be $299.99, but is appearently available now for instore pickup at this price. This might be an option for those looking to beat the rush.

For someone that would mainly use this notebook for just Internet, is this the best deal one can get?

Also, if I need to go to Wal-mart to get this, how bad will it be? Will this notebook sell out within minutes to only people camping out, or could they still be available up to like 10am?

Here's the link to Emachines for a better description.

    http://www.emachines.com/products...ME627-5279

And here is a link to compare CPUs.

    http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu_list.php

The CPU(AMD Athlon™ 64 Processor TF-20) in this laptop is kinda week but if they sell it for $200 it won't be a bad deal.

I was kinda wanting a Cheapo laptop but that CPU and the specs at that price, I'm leaning toward NOT buying.

Anybody actually use a PC with that processor???

    Thats all I got...............

cmw, it will probably sell out quickly just like the more expensive ones in the past on BFs at Wally World.

This is a cheap laptop. It would be fine for surfing the internet. It would be similar to a netbook in performance. This is a mediocre deal though. Especially considering that Acer with the 2.2GHz Celeron processor (much better processor) just sold at bestbuy for $250.

As far as selling out goes, there's probably going to be a lot of people buying it simply because it is a new laptop for $200. I wouldn't get it, but I would expect a fair amount of people would at that price, so if you want it, go early!

Easily upgradeable to a TL-50, not a powerhouse but definitely decent. And if this lappy is anything like its Acer Aspire counterpart, then it has a 2 gig stick installed (not 2, 1 gig sticks), meaning you just have to buy another 2 gig stick to make this a pretty good deal. ($198 + tax + $10 eBay TL-50 + $30 RAM)

I can tell you that emachines laptops are total junk. I would suggest, Acer, HP or any other name brand machine, even a basic laptop. The emachines are total crap and not even worth 200

How do you figure that? When you consider Acer owns eMachine.
