I've heard from a friend of mine if you drop something electronic like that in water, soak it in rubbing alcohol for awhile (with no battery in it, of course) then take it out and let it sit/dry at least overnight if not 2-3 days, then try again. Not sure how good of an idea it would be with a camera, though.
