End Sprint Contract without ETF... New price adjustment = time to leave or PERKS TIME (YMMV)
For those who like apple iphones but are stuck in sprint contract, maybe this is time for you to get out of contract.

    Quote :
    Administrative Charge
Effective Jan. 1, 2009, the Administrative
Charge will increase to $0.99 per line. For
details on surcharges, please see Sprint Terms
    & Conditions or visit sprint.com/taxesandfees
The consumerist stated that this is a possible way of getting out of contract.

BTW if you don't want to leave, perhaps it's time for you to negotiate with Retentions on perks. good luck

    SUGGESTIONS: Refer to http://forums.slickdeals.net/show...tcount=756

For some SERO and def NON-SERO people (like me):

For those wanting to haggle and dont know what you can get may I suggest the following:

-Getting Airave. Indoor device to boost signal but also talk them into giving you free unlimited calling with it normally 10+. You have to be willing to talk your way into to it, not just hear no and say ok. Mention that you have lower bars at your residence. Im not saying to lie, but if you have less than full bars, I would consider that lower bars....

-Pick 3: Seems to be available pretty easy. I would mention that you call a few people a lot and wonder if they have anything to do it. Remember the whole point of the call is to bring up the admin fee and to tell you have been having an issue with something like.

-Statement credit- Ranges from 25-100$. Depends on who you talk to. (grr.. i only got $10/line but @ 4 lines = $40)

-New phone/cheaper phone - This mostly is for the people who are nearing the end of their contract. You can probably get a combo statement credit/phone deal.
*BestBuy's Sunday ad (NYC) shows HTC Touch Pro for $199, good chance to price match! PDF of the BB ad below...

-Discount. Ask what discounts they have, this is one of the hardest to get applied. Just be persistant and reiterate the fact that you love sprint (if you do) or if you have had a past problem, bring that up again, and remind them of it.

I hope Ben's Sprint Retentions Ideas (trademarked) help you. I will add this to the wiki. Feel free to add on. -LEANINBACK916

PLEASE PUT SUCCESS STORIES FROM SERO BELOW:

2/4/09 - crappyjoe - Echat was easily willing to cancel my lines w/o any hesitation. Did offer me pick 3, took it.

1/30/09 - rebelx - EChat got me a free airrave with a 2-year commitment and a $4.95 charge/month. I disconnected the chat box by accident, called in and got my contract date zero'd out. I totally forgot out to ask for free PAM. Damn.

1/28/09 - BrownsDawg - Called CSR after 2 unsuccessful e-chats, wasn't offered anything but was direct and asked for pick 3 after saying I was considering changing services. Transferred to account or retentions(?) rep who gave pick 3 with no questions asked.

1/23/09 - jumpman6235 - Called CSR to cancel contract and waive ETF, was offered free Airave(Declined), Now my contract will end w/out ETF, Thanks!!

1/14/09 - bojackson63044 - I was able to get the CSR to make a note on my account to waive the ETF via eChat.

    drprince89:

I was able to end my contract, i have SERO and had to only call twice, the first representative3 was a male and was hellbent on not letting me out to the point that he called back and left a message confirming what he had told me. Second time around I called and got a really nice southern female and within 10 minutes i was out of contract with my line still active.

i got airave free and the 4.99 monthly payments waived.

RulingCzar: After being offered pick 3 and some other poor offer they stuck with $75 towards an upgrade. I wanted new phones and they didn't want to play ball. After asking to have the lines canceled without ETF several times and receiving several counter offers to leaving they canceled my lines with no ETF.

CrazyScntst: 1/17/09 - On first call (talked to someone in the US!), got transferred to an account manager that had no problem setting me up with a free AIRAVE w/plan, but i have to pay $10 shipping and they'll extend my contract to 2 years from today. I didn't push my luck on getting out of ETF and I don't care about contract extension b/c I have SERO 500.

From Consumerist.com, if you are not getting a reasonable outcome, I found this number to be helpful 703-433-4401. It's a special phone number directly to the executive customer service queue. It's stated to:
    Use this number

    1) For good
    2) If you have a major problem with Sprint
    3) After you have communicated with at least two different customer service reps and asked to be escalated to a supervisor at least once.

    HOW TO GET TO CHAT

    LOG OUT FIRST

    1. Go to Welcome to Sprint - Cell Phones, Mobile Phones, Plans for Personal and Business Wireless
    2. Without typing anything into the MySprint Sign in hit the "Go" button (leaving fields blank)
    3. This will bring you to an error page saying to "Please Check Your Information" for signing onto MySprint (will ask to sign on again - don't do it)
    4. Rather, look to the left of "Sign On to My Sprint" there should be a "Got a question? Click to Chat." button.
    5. Click that button
    6. Fill out required information then hit "Click to Begin Chatting"

I guess you meant you don't pay a lot...That is the ONLY reason I stay with Sprint. My plan is just too good: $30 for 500 anytime minutes, Free N&W that start at 7pm, unlimited sprint to sprint, unlimited text, unlimited picture mail, & unlimited Vision. The handset selection at Sprint is pretty craptastic though.

Your plan is SERO 500, it's the same to me.

I will try to get some perk.

ok ive often wondered so i figured i would ask, I realize that i can cancel my contract because they are changing things that are materially adverse. However does this mean that I HAVE TO end my coverage? i realize this is just sprint but hypothetically lets say ATT does this, can i terminate my contract but still keep my service so that at some point in the future i can leave when i see a good deal on service else where, and then not have to pay the ETF?

and on a second thought does this only apply to current customers? what i read is that this will go into effect in janurary, can i go out now and get service then terminate it and sell the phone?

ps i do currently have ATT, unfortunately its my only reasonable choice if i want coverage at my apartment.

Sprint SERO is priced just right, other carriers are charging too much. If you need proof, just look at their financial statements and see how much profit they are making. If you think oil is bad, think again.

There is nothing wrong with Sprint beside their incompetence service reps. At the very least, they willing to negotiate. Try to negotiate with AT&T and Verizon, they careless if you leave. They charged 1 months in advance and wouldn't refund if you leave and has unused amount. They said it's stated in the contract. I don't know if they can hold it if they were taking to court.

My experiences with both of them were bad. When I disconnected their services, they billed me another full month. After many calls, finally about to remove the charge, but no refund. That's with AT&T. With Verizon, I wasn't that lucky, they said I have to paid half a month. Between the half month fee and a unpaid bill on my credit score, I have decided to put up the white flag for the devil.

Sprint Sero is too awesome to try and bluff
They'd probably be like... "Yeah sure, go ahead and get a $60-80 matching plan if you want... you know you can't.." and the conversation/argument ends there...

Though I guess everyone's welcome to try...
