I advise people not to buy it. The keyboard is worst I see for any PDA. Were they designed the KB for babies?

Can't really see why anyone would buy the pre when you can get the iphone for $99 and a real iphone 3G S for $199.

in case you havent noticed.. sprint's MOST EXPENSIVE plan is almost half the price of at&t's shitty service..

    Pat,

If you haven't used the Pre extensively then you have no idea how good the phone is. I've been using it since it came out and love it. And Sprint works everywhere for me so if I have to pay double for AT&T's service on a monthly basis, why should I get an iPhone?

I talked to sprint about the keyboard and they said it's not good for people with sausage fingers.

And I advise anyone that even takes this person's opinion for one second at face value to go to a Sprint store and try the phone out yourself (Assuming you can find a store that has any in stock at this point. A new shipment should be coming in soon from all that I've been hearing/reading.). Reviews (or in this case, bashings) are all fine and good. But, until you've tried something out for yourself you could be cheating yourself out of a great device.

How does the pre's keyboard compare to the treo 6xx or centros? Are there any users of each that could make a fair comparison?

I have giant-fregg'n hands and could still do 20-22 words per minute on the treo 600-650. I moved to a centro and the change they made to the spacing of the keyboard bumped me down to 15 WPM. I just want to ensure I don't drop further if I upgrade.

    **** BE AWARE ****

You need to be on a "Sprint Everything" plan in order to purchase/use this phone. I just called and my normal plans EVDO 3G high speed internet is NOT compatible with the Palm Pre.

Sprint knows there is alot of excitement surrounding the phone and this is their way of getting more money from customers each month by making them give up their cheaper plans.

The Pre is an awesome phone, I just got it two days ago. The UI and software is better than the iphone, but the battery life is awful, mine only lasts from 9 am to 5 pm barely. I was using a Treo 755p which was checking email every minute, and it would last over a day and a half. Compared to the iPhone, the Pre is a much better deal, but I would wait til the 2nd WebOs device comes out later this year the Eos. If you know with Palm, the Treo 755p came out first, and then the Centro. The Centro was much cheaper, and better. It was faster, better battery life, but just a smaller screen. The Pre is a the higher model while it has a sliding keyboard, and better aestics, it is better to wait till Christmas when the cell phone are really sold.

    nashvilleitalia,

I'm in the same boat as you. I'm trying to find the best phone that will go with the EVDO without having to upgrade. Did you find an alternative?

I've had a 650p, 650w, and an 800w, and always really liked the keyboard. I don't own a pre, but I've played with a couple before, and IMO, although the keyboard is certainly smaller, it is not a deal breaker. It will take getting used to, and it will not be as fast as the earlier treos, but it still is useable. I much perfer it over the iphone's keyboard (not bashing the iphone, it is great too). With a glass keyboard, I feel you always have to stop to use the keyboard, it's a lot harder to use on the go.

Just my opinion. Just waiting for some more firmware updates, and then I'll probably get a Pre.
