FREE Nights at Hotels / ** WORLDWIDE Again **- ANY City ANY Night - Post your finds here
There has been much talk in the past about Best-Rate Guaranteed Hotels. For those of you unfamiliar with what that is, there are sites like TripRewards.com that have a policy where if you book a hotel on their site first and then find a cheaper rate somewhere else within 24 hours of booking it on their site, they will give you your first night free - even if it is only a one-night stay.

After booking your hotel use THIS LINK HERE TO FILE A CLAIM [triprewards.com] (this is just for triprewards - every chain has a different link)

Here's the link for Wyndham Resorts: Click Here for Wyndham Claim Form [wyndhampromotions.com]

** UPDATE (6/1/2008) - Folks, this thread was originally the free nights and hotels worldwide thread until TripRewards changed their policy to price guarantee only in the US.

I'm thrilled to point out that it is once again a WORLDWIDE offer !!

However, This applies ONLY to the Days Inn (from what I have seen).

Here is the link to the Days Inn Policy [daysinn.com] that applies to ANY Days Inn (click on Terms and Conditions - I didn't link directly to the T&C because you need the source code in the link I have provided to display the correct T&C.)

Also, I have found yet another BRG that might even MAKE you money (similar to the Red Lion Guarantee) - it is for the UK ONLY.

Here is a link to the details [co.uk]

You will make 100 pounds plus they will price match - many people in the UK have used this to actually make money staying at hotels, as they have found many places to stay for less than 100 pounds and received the price match on top.

If you want to search all three sites that the LondonTown offer honors, you can use THIS SITE [sletoh.com] to compare fares from all three.

    Enjoy!

** UPDATE (5/27/2008) ** Red Lion now has a 2-day FREE stay PLUS a $100.00 gift card with their Best Rate Guarantee !! Here's the info you need:

Here is the guarantee : Best Rate Guarantee for Red Lion [rdln.com]

And here is the claim form for Red Lion: Claim Form [rdln.com]

There are 2 separate threads that talk extensively about the Wyndham / Trip Rewards Guarantees:

Credit goes to greatdiamonds4u for the original, found here:
    http://forums.slickdeals.net/show...0&t=439735

The hotel chains that participate in these Best Rate Guarantees are: Days Inn, Travelodge, Ramada, Howard Johnson, Super 8, Wingate Inn, Knights Inn, Amerihost Inn, and Baymont Inn & Suites.

Credit for finding and posting their guarantees goes to jethanimanoj (who is banned now - NO REP FOR YOU !! :-) You can see each of their policies at this thread:
    http://forums.slickdeals.net/show...7&t=491479

This thread is intended to be a one-stop shop for people who have discovered cheaper rates on other websites. Pleas use the Wiki post and organize it by Country / City / State when you have found a cheaper rate on the web than is posted at Triprewards.com and the like so everyone can take advantage of these great deals.

Some FAQ's from the past that you may be wondering about:

    Q) How long will this deal last? Since there are active members searching for price mistakes, will it go away?

    A) No, it will NOT go away. Triprewards and sites like it have been doing this for over 5 years, and if you look at the other SD thread at the top you will see there have been periods of increased activity where there were literally THOUSANDS of claims pouring in and they have continued the program.

    Q) Will my credit card be charged if it doesn't go thru?

    A) Your card is not charged until the day before you stay. If you book the hotel first and submit a claim that is denied for some reason, you can cancel your hotel reservation up to 24 hours before your stay and you will NOT be charged.

    Q) How long does it take for my claim to come thru?

    A) When there is a spike in activity (which you can expect the moment this thread goes live) it usually takes about 3 days to hear back. The *normal* response time is closer to 3 hours.

    Q) Are there any sites currently culling this information? Is this thread REALLY necessary?

    A) There is one site that culls this information VERY infrequently, it used to be called freetraveling.com but now it is called travelglitch.com. They have one or two deals posted, but there are at least 4 I know of in my city alone right now and this changes daily, so this thread is the perfect spot for people to post the deals they find.

    Q) What's the BEST way to find cheaper prices with hotels?

    A) The quickest way I know of is to use Kayak.com and filter the results (on the left side) to include ONLY Wyndham / TripRewards results (or whatever chain you are looking for that has a Best Rate Guarantee). This is also possible using Orbitz.com but it is faster and easier to do with Kayak.

    Q) Are the nights listed the ONLY nights this hotel is going to be free?

    A) Likely not - it takes a LOT of effort to find a price guarantee, and it's almost impossible to check every night of every week at every hotel. Once someone has found a rate difference, go check out the hotel for the dates you are looking for - you'll often find it available again for free!

I'll be posting any Best Rate Guarantee mis-matches I find in the Wiki as soon as this thread goes live, and to help each other out, I suggest all us SD'rs pull together and do the same!

I thought about making a reservation under my name but it's less than 48 hours before Sunday. They would turn it down saying it has to be at least 48 hour before the stay.
    To cancel a reservation:

Go to this link [ramada.com] (it doesn't matter which brand as long as it is not Wyndham itself - e.g. Super 8, Ramada, etc. all work from this link.) For Wyndham - use this link [wyndham.com]

Input the information for the room you want to cancel.

Unless it's non-refundable, this should work.

    Click "cancel this reservation"

My suggestion is that you take a bit of time, google Wyndham best rate guarantee for some other websites that will give you good pointers about how to use this program.

It's a "give a man a fish versus teach a man to fish," kind of scenario.

US hotel chain Wyndham Worldwide to slash 4,000 jobs [rawstory.com]

    Quote :
Wyndham Worldwide Corp., a US hotel and resort chain, said late Monday it plans to slash about 4,000 jobs in a restructuring aimed at cutting its dependence on the asset-backed securities market.

"With the credit markets showing no signs of improvement, we are effectively eliminating our need to access the securitization markets to support an otherwise well-performing vacation ownership business," Stephen Holmes, Wyndham Worldwide chairman and chief executive, said in a statement.

The company said the jobs, representing one-eighth of its workforce, would be eliminated in the first quarter of 2009, according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The job eliminations will come as the company shrinks its timeshare vacation business, Wyndham Vacation Ownership, which has a network of some 145 vacation ownership resorts throughout North America, the Caribbean and the South Pacific.

"These proactive steps will ensure maximum flexibility across all our businesses irrespective of conditions within the asset-backed securities market," Holmes said.

Wyndham Worldwide, based in Parsippany, New Jersey, employs more than 32,000 employees globally.

CONFIRMED FREE NIGHT: Ramada Inn in Windsor Locks, CT: 12/20/2008

At first they gave me a little bit of a hard time about it, saying that they couldn't find the lower rate, however when I fired back that the rate is plainly and clearly on hotels.com and I expect them to honor their guarantee, they changed their story and very happily gave me my freebie confirmation number.

I tried doing a BRG using the rate on ReserveTravel, but was denied because its based on double occupancy. Any idea how to figure it for 4 adults, instead of 2?

I have only studied up on this a bit, but remember reading you should always book the room for 2 adults for it to work, that they don't check on you, and as long as your not housing tons of rowdy people, it's never an issue. 2 is the only way to get it to work from what I read.

Unless you all have the same last name, book two rooms. More comfortable anyway, I'd think.

Or, as suggested, book it for two and bring your friends in in large suitcases!!

BRG's are only approved for 1-2 people. You can submit claims until you are blue in the face, but they will not ever be approved. If you have more than two adults in your party, simply have two of them join you later (ie do'nt all checkin together, making a big deal "Hi there are four of us and we arehere to trash the room). Most properties don't care.how many guests are staying in the room. There's no need to be "sneaky", just behave.

Actually, if there are four of you, file TWO claims and get two rooms!
