Secret $60 Michelin Tire Rebate - Up to $190 discount off 4 tires purchased before May 31st (YMMV)
This deal combines two "known" discounts with something new I just found out today, so bear with me and read a little bit for maximum savings...

    The "HIdden" $60 rebate:
Call 800-847-3435 and hit "1" (because you are a consumer) and then "0" three times to get an operator. Ask to have a Friends of Michelin rebate form mailed to you - you will get a rebate coupon for $60 dollars off of a set of 4 tires from Michelin purchased from 3/16/09 to 10/31/09. It is valid for light truck or passenger tires only.

    YMMV Part One - $130 total :
This rebate MAY be stackable with the $70 Michelin Instant Discount at Costco thread deal.

    YMMV Part Two - $190 total :
Either or Both of the above deals MAY stack with the Michelin Spring Promo Rebate where you get a $60 visa card if you buy 4 tires before May 31st.
(props to YARDEE for the original Spring Promo Rebate Info)

    More Useful Details::
According to the Spring Promotion website (here [michelinman.com]), costco purchases don't explicitly qualify for the Spring Promo, but the rebate form only requires a copy of your receipt be submitted, so you have nothing to lose by trying...(go to the Spring Promo site and get your own form by clicking the link in step #2, they fill in & assign unique serial numbers to each PDF form filled out/requested)

I just requested my "Friends of Michelin" rebate form today so I don't know all the exclusions yet, but I will post a copy (with all the fine print) as soon as I receive it...(7 to 10 business days according to the CS rep I spoke with)

This will be a Super Slick deal if all the concurrent promotions come through!! This is YMMV of course, but I need new tires anyway & I plan on submitting both rebates to see what sticks! the two rebates are different offer codes, so that should be an easy $120 right there since I am not buying at Costco...I was able to price match Costco's price at another local dealer to carry over that $70 in savings.

The price match trick should make at least one rebate AND the "Costco" discount fly ($130 off) for someone else

Thanks to everyone who chimed in about Costco, Sam's Club or BJ's (all wholesale clubs) not being eligible for the Spring Promotion Rebate...

It looks like Price Matching Costco's coupon savings at an alternative non-wholesale shop is THE WAY TO GO if you want to stack the rebates and still "keep" the $70 Costco discount on a set of Michelin Tires. I got a local shop to price match fairly close to Costco's price with Lifetime Balance/ Install /Road Hazard and I can STILL send in the rebates to see if I get lucky on both being accepted - That is a MINIMUM of $130 in savings ($70 Costco Price match and AT LEAST one $60 rebate) on 4 new Michelin Tires. Good luck to everybody else! -CLP

Hopefully this will be useful to someone. For those who are taking advantage of this deal but did not get their tires installed because they still have some life left on their current tires, like I did. Here are some helpful tips on how to properly store tires for long-term to minimize degradation of the rubber.

    1) Go to HD or Lowes. Buy one 2x2 8ft long piece of wood ($1.82 at Lowes) and have it cut in half so you get two 4 ft. pieces. Buy some BLACK 33 Gal. lawn and garden trash bags. One bag will fit one tire.
    2) Place each of your new Michelins into the trash bag. Pull on the drawstring to bring the opening of the bag to a small hole. Get out your vacuum, and put the hose attachment into the bag. Suck out as much air as possible. Quickly pull out the hose and twist the bag. Get some tape and tape the twist of the bag tightly.
    3) Place your vacuum sealed tires in a cool, dry, and dark place like a basement (if possible). I placed mine in an empty closet of my office room. Garages and sheds are fine too but optimally you want a place where temperature variation and ventilation is minimal. Do not put it outside in direct sunlight, near electrical machines, furnaces, or anything that may produce ozone.
    4) Put down the two pieces of wood from earlier about 10 inches apart, place the tires vertically on them. Store the tires in the VERTICAL position. Do not horizontally stack them.

If you follow these tips, your tires should be in relatively new condition for a very long time. The key to tire storage is cool temps, dryness, and low air exposure (decrease oxidation of rubber). -raysacr

You only need to do above if you're really planning on storing tires for a long time. Unless you really need a limited production tire for a classic car, just wait until you need tires years down the road and buy them then. Not only will you get a new tire, but likely the tires in the future will have improvements in tire technology making it better then your stored tire.

Interesting. I need new tires as well, they're for an SUV, wonder if this'll work. I'll check it out, and thanks for the heads up!

    Just to Clarify

Most tire dealer will price match each other's best price - so if you call Costco and get a quote for their best price (you don't need to tell them *your* membership number or anything for basic price info), or just go to their website and print out their prices. Take this info to another dealer (who is participating in the Spring Promo Rebate, for example) and haggle over their "higher" price - they WILL deal if the tires are the same ones. Pay the "discounted" price and then print your own rebate form to submit after the fact.

If the competitor you pick says "we already have a rebate deal with Michelin,so we won't lower our price, go to a different competitor who is not participating in the Spring Promo Rebate (let's say Sears) and get them to price match the tires. Then call & request the Friends of Michelin Form on your own and send it in.

Either way, you should be able to get at least $130 in discounts combining two of the three currently available "offers" practically guaranteed...just make some phone calls and do a little legwork.

I got Michelin LTX M/S 165/70R16's (check out the reviews at tirerack.com) for my truck - my local shop originally wanted $189 each but came down to $171 each installed with road hazard coverage when I told them about Costco's price of $168.

BEFORE rebates, my shop was $736 w/tax, Costco would have been $705 w/tax and Sears wanted $878 w/tax for the same set/options...the extra $21 is worth supporting my local shop over the Big Boys.

    awesome deal,

my last set of tires I got from discount tire, I bought the tires on the last day of an old rebate and the first day of the new rebate and got them to match the online price of their website for the tires

I ended up saving nearly the cost of a tire ($175/tire) with the 2 rebates and discounted price on the tires
And the discount online price was already nearly 100 cheaper (per 4 tires) than anyone else
they were BFG KDW 275/40/17, by the way

too bad I already bought some new tires when cashback was 30% (BFG KD 275/40/17) or this is pretty tempting especially since its michelins. Hello Pilot Sport 2 !!!

Thank You! I bought my tires back in March so I couldn't get the "Michelin Spring Rebate" promo but if I can get the first one, I'll be happy.

    Thanks again OP!

Here's a tire tip to keep in mind. There are 3 components to a tire purchase - the price of the tire itself, mounting, and balancing. If a dealer can't/won't work with you on the tire price, try to get them to discount or toss in the mounting and balancing. Oh, sometimes they charge for new stems too.

There are several kinds of balancing, just to complicate things evern further, try to get the dynamic kind. And see if you can get them to throw in free rotations every 5K miles as well.

Yeah, I've driven this road a few times ...........

Just about to buy some new SUV tires from Costco. The Spring Rebate does appear to be stackable with the Costco deal. Repped.
