Toyota Offers 0% on certain models (Camry, Matrix, Corolla etc.)
Was actually checking out USA Today / WalStreet Journal etc.. when I came upon this.

In a bid to revive traffic in showrooms, Toyota will offer 0% financing on 11 models through Nov. 3. The deal covers most of the Toyota brand except hybrids and the Yaris subcompact. The company's Scion and Lexus brands are not included.

Vehicles covered under the campaign include Camry, Corolla, Matrix, Tundra, FJ Cruiser, 4Runner, Highlander, Sequoia, Sienna, RAV4 and Tacoma. Toyota will offer free financing for between 36 and 60 months depending on the vehicle, according to Randy Pflughaupt, a senior marketing executive at Toyota Motor Sales.

Essentially this is all due to horrid recent sales results for September of 08 when compared to 07. Approx 32.3% less sales. So voila.. 0% financing.. To bad it excludes Lexus brands..

Well, I think they should just offer cash rebates to consumers instead of encouraging more bad debt.

Hey! We're in a recession because of credit abuse! Let's get people to borrow even more money to help save the economy!

Thanks for the heads up OP!

If anyone is interested, the 2010 Camry [edmunds.com] is due out early next year. Changes for the 4 cyl engine configuration include a 6 speed automatic transmission. Engine specs will be: 2.5L 180HP (and hopefully better gas mileage than the efficient 2009 engine?). This will be considered a minor model refresh, so the body style/shape is not going to change. Credit: seatoyotasales on Edmunds for the specs and news.

Edit: wilkmd, I agree with you - I'd rather have the cash back, but not everyone has the resources to pay for the car upfront. Credit (if used wisely), can be a good thing.

Been holding on buying a car for a few month now.
Is the Camry 2010 really coming out early next yr?
I was thinking buying a Camry by this yr end, but some bad reviews about the weak engine still holding me back.
The weak engine issue will be solve in the 2010 model?

LOL...just because they offer 0% financing doesn't mean they just give the financing to anyone off the street. I'm waiting for Toyota and Honda to offer steep discount. Other auto makers have been offering 40%-50% off MSRP..

Same here. I still driving my 95 Camry. It still in good condition, so I'm thinking getting another Camry. But the review is pretty bad. Look like newer is not always better.

0% interest is smart debt. 7% is stupid debt. I purchased my last car (2 year old used Sienna) and put it on zero percent interest cards. Smart move. Saved thousands.

Who are these other manufacturers? I am in the market for a new car and very interested in a good deal for a reliable car.

An 08 Camry will be better in safety, etc. than a 95 Camry. The reason for the lower marks is that many other brands have surpassed it. In other words, the bar is that much higher than Toyota was willing to match or exceed.

I think 40-50% off is for American brands that just don't sell at all. If you see Honda and Toyota offering 40-50% off, then Chevy, Ford, etc... would be at 70-80% off.
