Separate color ink cartridges will save you bundles in the long run, well worth it. The other has a scanner, but the ink will cost more in the long run. All depends on what you want or need.

    Nice deal, OP.

I noticed it said you can print wirelessly with a separate hardware purchase....anyone know what this is referring to? I'm looking to buy a printer that you can print with using a wireless internet connection....apparently, printers with this capability are still few and far between

I saw that. What I'm specifically referring to is the ability to print from your laptop, without your desktop computer having to be turned on for the printer to work. I just bought the Canon mp620 [amazon.com] for myself which works wirelessly, but am looking for a similar wireless printer for my parents. What surprises me is that this feature is still so hard to find in printers, even though laptops/notebooks have been so popular for the past few years. Maybe the printer manufacturers are figuring that the average family has a laptop or a desktop , but not both???

it's referring to a wireless print server, an (overpriced) HP model no doubt, but others may work... i have also seen a couple models where the wireless or networking capability can be added directly to the printer (this is also common on expensive 'business class' printers).

some lower-cost printers are starting to come with networking (wired and/or wireless) built in (see prev reply).. OR, if you've already got a (wireless) network set up, and usually have a desktop PC on, just make sure you buy a printer that can be shared across a network (some cannot) and hook it up to that PC.

If I didn't need a copier/scanner, I'd hop on this one. It says the inks last up to 300 pages....the C4480 last up to 200 pages I believe. So if you're just using the ink and tossing it...this may be better.
