(Newegg) Energy Take 5 Pack 5CH Home Theater Speaker System System $150 AC + Free Shipping (Expires 07/10)
    Overview

Take Classic is a no-compromise collection of high-tech components—4 satellites and center channel—with all our best stuff packed inside great looking high-gloss black cabinets.
Packaged 5 pack home theater system
Compact speakers look great with contemporary flat panels
High-gloss black finish has high-tech look
Take Classic proves that convenience doesn’t have to mean compromise. Sure, you can shop for individual home theater components—but you won’t get better performance, or better looks.

We picked the best of Energy’s technologies, so Take Classic can fill your room with hair-rising effects and theater-like sound: hyperbolic aluminum dome tweeters for screaming highs, and convergent Source Modules for clear, crisp dialogue. Keyhole slots, threaded inserts and rubber bumpers let you choose how and where to place your speakers.

Take Classic components were developed with Energy’s principles in mind:

Flat On-Axis Frequency Response with Wide Bandwidth: Speakers should reproduce the entire audio range in a uniform manner. By ensuring that no one frequency dominates any other, Energy ensures that every note is the way it was intended to be—and the sound as natural as possible.

Wide and Constant Dispersion: Sound at all frequencies radiating from the speaker should be in an even pattern, in all directions throughout the room.

Low Distortion and Resonance: speaker system is distortion- or resonance-free, but Energy has achieved a significantly lower distortion level, a clearly audible improvement.
    Specifications:
Frequency Response Sat: 115Hz-20KHz; Center: 110Hz-20KHz
    Power Handling 100 Watts
Recommended Amplifier Power 20 - 100 Watts RMS (Continuous)

These aren't computer speakers though exactly. They have 5 way binding posts. Personally I find it a bit of a pain HT speakers to your computer unless you have a HTPC.

Energy is a brand that has been around for a long time, a Canadian company, very respected. Recently acquired by the parent company of Klipsch.

This is a very good deal for a small to medium size room.

These are remarkable speakers. I've had a set of these for a few years now and continue to be amazed by the quality of sound the put out in such a small sized speaker. Pair these up with a good sub and receiver and you'll be quite pleased.

This set normally goes for $400 w/ a sub (this deal is for a 5.0 system, no sub).

These Take Classic are nice speakers. If you want cheap, quick surround solution to replace your bedroom computer speakers, they are one. $150 is great price for them. You will need to pair a good sub with them.

If you want better quality, I recommend you to spend your $200 on a 2.0 stereo first, then add sub, cen, surround, back later one by one.

    Just my $0.02

Energy speaker been around for a long time as mentioned by another slickdeal member. It's featured in Sound & Vision Magazine. Here's an artcile that got the S&V Recommended Award. Same speaker set but this one includes the sub. This is a great buy! Just add a sub for a 5.1 Speaker set!

"Overall, Energy’s Take 5.2 is one of the best ultracompact home theater speaker systems I’ve heard so far, and at the price it’s a stone-cold steal. If you’re looking for a system as small as possible and your budget is about $1,000, the Take 5.2 is hard to beat."
