I'll try it out with some of the $1 coins I bought from the mint. Woo Hoo, Credit card rewards for the buying the coins and free 25% for Amazon.

Here is the deal to get the $1 coins from the mint for face value. It's still going on. I have a coinstar three miles away. I'll duck out and let you know what I find.

It's a no-go from my local coinstar, in Raleigh. My only two options is for cash or Donation. No Gift Certificates and they charge 9 cents on each dollar to count (for cash). I did cash in the change for an Amazon gift certificate last year at the same location. Strange how they don't offer it. So this is a big YMMV.

Dang it. It helps if you do the advance search option on coinstar.com for locations. The location I went to doesn't offer the gift certificate option, but there is another location 3 miles the other way that does. I'll check that one out in a couple of hours.

Thanks. Used the link to find a machine near me offering gift certificates.

But on the Coinstar page, they have a link to PROMOTIONS. When I went there, there were no current promotions listed.

Umm, this may be a dumb question or maybe I am missing your point, but can't you just get coins from the bank? I get quarter rolls there every couple of weeks for laundry...
