Bonus Entries

Here's how it works: There are three ways in which you can receive extra entries. They do not require you to do anything to receive them.

A. At the time of the drawing date, users who have entered will also receive an additional twenty (20) entries for each month of time spent online at slickdeals.net as displayed in the users profile.

Example: At the time of the drawing, a snapshot will be taken of all the user accounts that have entered into the contest. If a user has a logged time spent of 9 Months, 3 Weeks, 4 Days, would receive credit for 10 months for a total of two hundred (200) extra entries.

Mathematical calculation: 9 Months, 3 weeks, 4 days = 295 days / 30 days = 9.8333 Months, rounded to 10 months * 20 entries = 200 entries.

B. At the time of the drawing date, users who have entered will also receive an additional five (5) entries for each month the account has been registered, as displayed in the users profile.

Example: If a user was registered on June 1 2006, the users account has an age of: 548 days, and thus would receive ninety (90) additional entries.

Mathematical calculation: From June 1st, 2006 to (but not including) December 1st, 2007 = 548 days / 30 days = 18.266, rounded to 18 months * 5 entries = 90.


C. At the time of the drawing date, users who have a deal alert set in their account for our participating sponsors will receive an additional ten (10) entries.

Example: All users who have a deal alert for "HP" at the time of drawing will recieve an additional ten (10) bonus entries.

To see a user's account details such as time spent or date registered, log in to the slickdeals.net forums using your account details and click "Quick Links" in the black submenu (viewable only when browsing the forums). A drop down menu will appear, select "My Profile".

How will you round?
After a user's total number of months has been calculated, Rounding will occur using the "common method" in regards to months. For example: if a user has 1.50 months, we will round to 2 months. If a user has 1.499 months, we will round down to 1 month.

Why not use post count or reputation?
We felt it was prudent not to use these factors as it may encourage spurious post spamming or reputation trading. We also felt that time spent and registration date is a more accurate descriptor for a "loyalty" program.

Who can enter?
Users who live in the United States, age 18 or over, and are registered users of the slickdeals.net forum community with accounts in good standing (not banned).

What do you mean accounts in good standing?
If your account becomes banned at any time during the contest (for reasons pertaining to the contest or for violations of the TOS or AUP), you immediately become ineligible and disqualified from the contest. Further, if your account is already banned, you are also not eligible for the contest. Finally, if you do win, and during the review of the winner, we find out that you had an account that was previously permanently banned, you will be disqualified.

How many times can I enter?
You may enter once per contest. Since there are 4 contests (one per week in december), you may enter a total of 4 times. This does not include the additional "extra" entries if you set up deal alerts on your account.

I am slightly confused about the extra deal alert entries.
If you enter the contest by posting a response to the official thread, you recieve one (1) entry into the drawing. You MUST do this to be entered into the contest. Simply setting up a deal alert will not enter you into the contest.

If you sign up for a deal alert with a keyword that matches our sponsors, then you will automatically be given an extra ten (10) entries into the drawing that week. This means means you will have a total of eleven (11) entries in the drawing. Aside from setting up the deal alerts, you do not need to do anything extra to receive the extra ten (10) entries.

Since there are four sponsors, you have the opportunity to sign up for all four deal alerts, one for each sponsor, to get a maximum total of 40 extra entries.

To be eligible, you MUST use one of the sponsor's names as the keyword. Eligible terms for Week 1 include: hp, handhelditems, redoctane, and diamondshark.

Since winners will be selected at the end of the contest and that is when the extra entries will be added, please make sure your deal alert is still active throughout the entire month to receive your bonus entries.

Do I have to setup a new deal alert for every contest?
No, you simply need to have at least one deal alert at the time of the drawing. However the list of eligible sponsors may change per week!

How many prizes can I win?
The terms and conditions state that there will be a limit of one prize per household for the entire promotion period. This means that you can only win one prize in the entirety of this giveaway. (Example: If you win a prize in week 1, you are not eligible to win in weeks 2, 3 or 4.)

How do you pick a winner?
After the official thread closes at the end of the week, the entries will be entered into a database. Users will then be given the extra entries that they are eligible for (deal alerts, loyalty program, etc). The server will then randomly select enough winners to distribute that week's prizes. Prizes will be distributed based on the order in which winners are drawn. Ie. The first user drawn will get the first prize listed in the thread, and so forth.

If I win, can I pick which prize I want?
No, prizes will be distributed to the winners in the order in which they were selected.

Do I have to pay for shipping?
Winners will not have to pay shipping for the prizes. However, make sure you give us a valid address! We are not responsible for undeliverable prizes.

Who will ship the prizes?
It depends on the sponsor that is giving the prizes. In most circumstances, the sponsor will ship the prize directly to you.

How will I be contacted if I win?
You will be contacted over the email address listed in your account, so please make sure this is active and valid.

Will I have to pay taxes on the prizes?
All winners are responsible for any taxes incurred, if any. Please ask your tax professional or visit www.irs.gov.

Will there be a warranty on the prizes?
The original manufacturer warranty will be valid on the prizes.

Are Slickdeals.net Staff or Moderators eligible?
Nope, we cant win. (Sorry guys). This includes the immediate family of staff as well.

How will you prevent cheating?
We will be monitoring all entries and especially checking the winners for a variety of things to ensure that everyone plays fairly! Anyone caught cheating will be permanently banned from slickdeals and ineligible for their prize and future contests! We're pretty good at catching people, so don't try!

What if two people in the house use the same computer?
Each person may enter the contest once under a separate account, however please don't try to abuse this, as it will not be tolerated.

I won last year, can I still win something this year?
Of course! Its a new year, a new season and we've got new things to give out!

Correction to the Terms and Conditions:
Eligibility section: Users do not have to be registered before December 1st to be eligible. This has been updated in the terms.

When will winners be announced?
Winners will be announced on the main holiday page at http://www.slickdeals.net/holiday/2008/week4/ after we verify the winner's eligibility (account verification, age, etc). Added: Dec 03 01:23:02 AM PST

When will winners be drawn?
As soon as we finish processing all of the entires and begin checking the entries for duplicates, winners shall be drawn. However, an announcement of winners will not be made until all winners have been confirmed.

How long do we have to claim our prize?
Winners will be notified via the email address listed in their account. Winners will have ten (10) days to respond and claim their prize.
