holy smokes, so glad I returned the z7012is. It is like a DSLR at small price. It shoots is HD The cons: you have to get good li-ion batteries. Cost around $19-30 bucks. Noisy imagery, and more lemons in the ocean ...??

Argh! I can't decide! My Canon sd850 broke and I just don't think this will even compare. BUT, I can't afford another good canon.

Well how bad is the damage? Sell it on eBay as a broken/repair AS-IS to squeeze out a couple more bucks. I know going through the warranty to fix it will cost as much as buying a new one. It is better to sell now than wait and have the value depreciate even more.

It got wet. Not real wet, but apparently enough. It won't even come on even after charging the battery all the way.

Try the other thread in SD where you can return a damaged Canon camera to Cannon and Cannon will let you buy a refurbished cannon camera....
Sorry, I could not find the thread

yeah your warranty won't even cover that, because it is water damage. If you ever drop something in water like a cell phone, camera, do NOT try to turn it back on. You can still maybe salvage some money through eBay. Ive sold plenty of damaged goods on eBay and got 10%-60% of the current value.
    Here is a good Description:
You are bidding on an AS-IS / Repair Canon SD880is with original battery, charger, box and etc. Not sure what is cause of the damage but It will not power on, it is cosmetically in GOOD Condition. All SALES FINAL. This item is AS-IS/Broken Repair

    There you go
