I have a good friend that works at Sears. Whenever good stuff goes on clearance, the employees ALWAYS buy it and sell it on ebay. Sometimes they don't know it's on clearance until a customer tries to buy it and it rings up at 90% off.

It's not paranoia.

One of the guys buys every decent clearance tv and ships them to family in remote africa. They can't get HDTVs out there, so they charge a HUGE markup on top of the shipping fees. Anybody who can afford an HDTV can afford the markup.

I think the model mentioned by OP is not the correct one....KX-TG6323PK is the right model and it has been on clearance since last week and at most of the places they are gone. I got this phone last week when I went to target for christmas stuff. But at the same time in the second target it scanned at 59.98 and as always target clearance are Big YMMV. Happy hunting .....

I bought the 4 handset version from BJ's for $89 after a coupon. Set works great. It does not have a message counter on the base, but the light blinks on the handsets to alert of a message....and you can retrieve the messages from the handset itself. Best part is that my set uses rechargeable batteries. Charging the phones in the base charges the batteries. When they finally do need to be replaced......no more expensive battery packs to replace!!!

Edited to add that mine are a black color...not the silver ones. I think the model I have is KX-TG9334 with 4 handsets.

OK, lesson learned. I shalt never call another store again. But target is a pretty freaking far drive. I wouldn't have taken the chance anyway.
