    [QUOTE=techyman;15880410]60 or 120 Hz[/QUOTE

The 5 series are definately 60hz. I have bought this one on BF and notice the difference with the 120Hz series (6 series and up). Mind you, it's a great HDTV for this price but if can spare another 300 bucks I would recommend going to the 120Hz model LN46A630 or 650 (glossy screen) models.

A lot of discussion can be found on avsforum on this and the Sony equivalents

this is a tacky question - but what determines whether people give you rep for a deal?
The PEOPLE determine it. If it is a good deal or helpful to them, they may rep u. Sometimes people rep people for there effort. There is no 1 thing that determines that.

If you want, you could rep me for responding to you. LOL

Keywords: "if you can get the price close to this."

Figure out how much a few extra inputs and different housing are worth to you and if the 530 is selling for that much more...buy the 530. The fact is...the 530 is selling for around $1250. IMO the extra inputs and different housing aren't worth even close to that.

If you can find the 500 model for around $950-$1000, it has good value.
I don't agree with you, but I hear ya, to each his own. Personally I'd spend the extra couple hundred and get a series 5. Actually you can get the 630 for just a tad over the 550 right now on Amazon. Then you get 120hz.

Oh well, just so everyone enjoys their own TV. That's all that matters.

    60 or 120 Hz
    this one is 60hz....
    120hz starts with 6 series and higher... like lnXXa630, XXa650, 750, 850, 860, 950 etc.,

and for people waiting to see what's on the horizon, sammy and others are shifting to LED backlighting going forward.. and many of the 2009 sammys will have LED backlit along with 240hz, yahoo widgets and better divx support etc.,

I am happy with my recent 850 purchase

isn't a problem with LED backlighting that some will "go out" sooner then others, etc (read something on wikipedia (i think) a couple of days ago)

hi, how did you get the 10% off at sears? Is this through the mail in rebate when you use your sears card and spend 999 or more on a tv?

    LINKY [abcwarehouse.com]

Different Model, same price. This link above is the A530. I forget the exact differences, but the 530 is a big better.
Btw, the link here for ABC Warehouse also talks about a NFL.com $200 certificate for purchases of TV's over $1k. This one falls $2 short, so I don't know if it applies to it, but maybe the rebate would work with other ($2 more expensive) Samsung TV's.

Says any purchase through Feb 28 2009.

Having a $200 rebate on the TV for NFLshop.com is big enough for me to bet that someone else has already posted that elsewhere?

EDIT: Oh yeah, and ABCwarehouse won't deliver to the OC. They seem to be local only to Michigan/Indy/Ohio

Got A500 from Fry's BF at $899. I am enjoy it with the price I paid. The 550 has more contrast ratio, but for me, I watch it in the bright room, and it is bright enough (become too bright at night). So, I saved my extra $200 for something else. Good Luck!

And here's Circuit City talking about the same rebate. http://www.circuitcity.com/ccd/Re...oid=234414

And as I thought, there are lots of SD posts talking about the $200 nflshop.com rebate. http://forums.slickdeals.net/show...&t=1108550 for example

I had some request about the 10% that I mentioned earlier. Sears is doing 10% off on Tv's over $999 when you use your Sears Card.

Why would LEDs go out any faster then any other light source? Solid state low voltage lights?! When was the last time you saw a filament bulb burn for twenty thousand hours?

LEDs are awesomely durable and efficient; also Wikipedia isn't exactly the most scrutinized source of information out there.
