Btw, the link here for ABC Warehouse also talks about a NFL.com $200 certificate for purchases of TV's over $1k. This one falls $2 short, so I don't know if it applies to it, but maybe the rebate would work with other ($2 more expensive) Samsung TV's.

Says any purchase through Feb 28 2009.

Having a $200 rebate on the TV for NFLshop.com is big enough for me to bet that someone else has already posted that elsewhere?

EDIT: Oh yeah, and ABCwarehouse won't deliver to the OC. They seem to be local only to Michigan/Indy/Ohio

Here is a link to the $200 NFL gear thread and the Sears rebate is below.

Why would LEDs go out any faster then any other light source? Solid state low voltage lights?! When was the last time you saw a filament bulb burn for twenty thousand hours?

LEDs are awesomely durable and efficient; also Wikipedia isn't exactly the most scrutinized source of information out there.
It's LCD backlight (not LEDs) that goes after so many years. However, in a good brand LCD TV the time to upgrade will come long before the backlight quits.

(BTW, Wkipedia isn't bad at all, IMHO.)

Its not LCD Backlight, they're talking about LED backlights. LCDs have a backlight. Backlights can utilize a variety of light sources, one of which is LED based. LED backlights are better because they are longer lasting when compared to incandescent backlights. LED backlighting is becoming more common in laptops and in TVs.

As far as wikipedia, its certainly not as scrutinized an info source as many others, however, because of vastness of the internet, it does contain a plethora of organized information. Such an abundance of information is good for the educated user who can discern between reliable and biased sources, but bad for those who think everything on the internet is true .

    Anyways, surf responsibly!

There are no incandescent lamps used as backlight in laptops or in TVs as far as I know, incandescent lamps would be too hot. Please, provide a couple of links if you know otherwise. BTW, I remeber old LCD watches (30 years ago) had really tiny incandescent light bulb for backlight.

The most common to provide backlight in LCD panels (laptops, monitors, TVs) are still CCFL lamps (cold cathode fluorescent lamps).

LEDs for backlight is a relatively new idea. It entered the market 3 years ago. Used only in some newer laptops. Wikipedia [wikipedia.org]:
The usage of LED backlights on notebook computers has been growing. Sony has used LED backlights on some of its higher end slim VAIO notebooks since 2005. Fujitsu introduced notebooks with LED backlights in 2006. In 2007, Asus, Dell, and Apple introduced LED backlights into some of their notebook models. As of 2008[update], Lenovo has also announced LED-backlit notebooks, and other companies like HP will also be marketing LED-backlit notebooks in the near future.
There are no LCD TV sets yet with LED backlight as far as I know. Again you are welcome to prove me wrong with good links.

EDIT: Samsung makes a few new LED backlit LCD TVs [wordpress.com] - 81F Series. 40 inch retailed $2500 in April.
LED-backlit LCD TVs on Google [google.com].

The PEOPLE determine it. If it is a good deal or helpful to them, they may rep u. Sometimes people rep people for there effort. There is no 1 thing that determines that.

If you want, you could rep me for responding to you. LOL
maybe a newbie question: what benefit do you get from being repped?
