UPDATE: 2511 (THIS MODEL) FIRMWARE UPDATE AVAILABLE HERE [memorex.com]. THANK YOU, ravioli.

    Model: Memorex MVBD-2511 Blu-ray Player
    SOLD OUT

NOTE: AVSForum has reported that installing the 2510 firmware upgrade (partially?) bricks the 2511 [avsforum.com]. DO NOT INSTALL THE 2510 FIRMWARE UPGRADE.

Full specs and more photos (rear outputs) can be found here:
    http://www.blu-ray.com/players/pl...show=specs
Note: USB socket is on the side, near the front face of the player.

Confirmed: This model can play avi (DivX and Xvid) via USB.
    See manual here: http://www.memorex.com/manuals/MV...g__QSG.pdf
Read page 37 of manual. Probably cannot play *.mkv files.

When playing DivX or Xvid avi files via USB, there is no "skip 10 minutes into the future" option,
so if you need to resume a movie from where you previously stopped, you have to fast forward at 16x speed.
This means that if you need to resume a movie from the 100-minute time point (in a 120-minute movie),
you have to hold down the fast forward button for 6 minutes. There is no 32x or 64x or 128x
    fast forward option.

    Unlisted specs:
Boot-up time is 45 seconds (from power-on to start of disc read)
Disc load time is 10 seconds (from start of disc read to actual disc play)

    Product Features

    * Progressive scan Blu-ray Disc player
    * 1080p capability for higher defintiion video content
    * Full HD 1080p, DVD up-conversion up to 1080p (480p, 720p, 1080i, 1080p), 24p, 60p video frame rate

    226 jhebi4yu has a spectacular aura about
$123 shipped to LA. Not bad for a reasonable BR player. Hummm waiting to be FP.

Quick list of pro's and cons of this unit versus Western Digital Media Player:

    Both units have:
    1) Similar price
    2) HDMI output to 1080p
    3) Play avi files (DivX and XviD) via USB flash drive or USB hard drive

Memorex Pro's (compared to WD Media Player):
    1) Can play BluRay discs
    2) Can play DVD discs

Memorex Con's (compared to WD Media Player):
    1) Physically bigger than WD Media Player
    2) Cannot play mkv files (mkv files are High Def Blu-Ray rips, just as avi/divx files are DVD rips)

    Note: A 1920x1080 (1080p) mkv file is ~40GB for a 2hr movie.

Best price ever for a blu-ray player!
I predict that Walmart will sell Blu Ray player for $29.99 in Black Friday 2009, and that at least one person will get trampled again.
HAH... i would give you rep points but alas, I too am merely a novice.
