Target coupon for any item (comparable item must be on sale and OOS, see OP for details)
I recently went to my local Target to get How I Met Your Mother Season 1 on sale for $16.99, original $19.99. That's a discount of 15% (although my rain check says 16%).
They were out of the item so I went and got a rain check. I noticed something new on this rain check though. I don't recall my old rain checks having this feature. It might have something to do with the recent 41% decline in reported income, lol. It says that I can apply the same discount (15-16%) and get any item in the same category (in this case TV on DVD) that's at full price and apply the discount to it. The example listed on the rain check says "i.e. doll for a doll, shirt for a shirt".
The qualifications for a rain check on a sale item is that the item is actually still on sale and is out of stock. Ask the customer service desk or the respective department's help desk for a rain check and that discount clause should be on it. You might even get a rain check if you just go to the customer service desk and ask for one. A lazy sales associate might just print it for you.
Hopefully this helps save you some money!
rodfan568 says that he did the same with a TV. An out of stock TV was discounted at 16%. The rain check allowed him to receive 16% off ANY TV in the store. Good deal.
KAJU1982 had success on a DVD player.
** Even if this is not new, it's a policy that I as well as many others were unaware of. Don't be a douche about how you already knew about this. Alcoholics Anonymous is a better venue for your anger.
