Probably worth the $5, but not with $5.95 shipping.

i have this for over a year. the crank arm is not ergonomically designed and the speaker volume is too low. there was no power adapter included even though the radio had the port.

i liked the Harbor Freight Dynamo radio design better but because the crank is made from flimsy plastic, i've broken mine with little force.

my favorite is the KAITO1102 but it is no equivalence comparison to this eton.

i've learned my lesson with crank flashlights. they are good with the charge that comes from the factory but after a few weeks of light use the crank does not recharge them to their full brightness anymore. add a radio with a big speaker and i can see someone cranking continuously just to listen to the radio... i wonder what happens when you leave the black model in the sun to recharge using the solar cells

I got one of the cranking flashlight too that seem dimmer and dimmer no matter how much cranking I do. Than one day I couldn't stand it anymore and open it up to see. There is a button battery inside. So the cranking won't charge the battery but go directly to the light and turn it on for 1sec.

I dont' think this crank radio is design like that so it shouldn't go dimmer until the dynamo or capacitor that store the power inside die.

made in china is still made in china! i used to love dollar stores when i was poor (out of school with low paying job) but now i'd rather look for US/Canada products on sale which are more expensive but at least there's some quality behind it and manufacturers/stores usually replace failed products.

To be fair, most of the hot deals on slickdeals are made in China. The stuff made in China is performed by chinese laborers but the american venture capitalists are the one approving the purchase order. in the US, stuff here can be made by illegal aliens and people on work visa with profit going to the bossman. there are sweatshops and shabby business dealing in the US that are no more deserving of our money than overseas competitors.
