Please help clean/tweak/speed up my new Vista install

Hello all!

My computer crashed a few night ago and I had to reinstall Vista. After a couple of years, I had stopped startup services, got rid of things like Aero that takes up system resources and all sorts of other tweaks to help speed up the system. Now I need to redo all that work.

Do you guys have ideas on forums, websites and/or free software that can help me speed up my system again? What to remove, what services to stop, what features to turn off, what programs to dump. These are all the questions I need help with.

I've done google searches and I've found a bunch of websites, but none that I really trust.

If you're curious... here's what I've done so far.

- Full reinstall - using restore partition
- Installed Firefox 3.0.10
- Look at article http://forum.notebookreview.com/s...php?t=5787 to remove bloatware. Contains lots of settings to change. Not yet.
- Installed Gadwin PrintScreen (considered ScreenHunter Free) Gadwin PrintScreen was the editors' favorite
- Installed PC Decrapifier v2.0.0 from http://www.pcdecrapifier.com/download
- Created Restore Point (before running PC Decrapifier)
- Ran PC Decrapifier (4 pictures to show what was removed)
- Turned off Windows Sidebar
- Used HP Update to check for updates (updated 2 HP items)
- Restarted computer (requested by Norton when I uninstalled)
- During restart, the computer automatically performed 55 updates (taking about 45 minutes)
- Checked Program and Features list - Considered the following (but haven't uninstalled yet)
- Activation Assistant for the 2007 Microsoft Office suite
- HP Customer Experience Enhancements
- HP Easy Setup - Frontend
- HP Photosmart Essentials
- HP Quick Launch Buttons
- Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007
- muvee autoProducer 6.0
- Roxio software
- From Program Files - Deleted
- Yahoo! (containing left over yahoo toolbar files)
- earthlink totalaccess
- Online Services
- Vongo
- Installed Flash plug in (for playing games on the internet)
- Installed IE Tab (in case Firefox doesn't show a web page correctly)
- Installed drivers and software for Photosmart C7280 Printer - http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/w...=32047 85
- Installed XMarks (replace Foxmarks as my bookmark manager)
- Went to Control Panel -> Programs -> Turn Windows Features on/off -> Turned off Windows Meeting Space and Table PC Optional Components

Oh yes... the damn UAC. I've turned it off for now, but in my google search found tweakuac which is supposed to just make it "quiet". I'm going to research it a bit more before doing that to make sure there's no spyware, etc.

And ccleaner rings a bell now. THANKS for the leads!
